John Cooper goals help Strensall extend their unbeaten run in Minster Engineering Football League

DIVISION three leaders Strensall came from behind to beat Wheldrake 3-1 in the York Minster Engineering Football League.

Strensall trailed to a Robin Rushton goal, but John Cooper levelled before the break.

Two strikes in the first ten minutes of the second half – another Cooper goal to take his season’s tally to 15 and the second from Mike Pipe – saw Strensall extend their unbeaten run to 14 matches.

Second-placed Crayke kept up the pressure on Strensall as they pushed their unbeaten run into double figures with a 5-0 hammering of F1 Racing.

Chris Brown (2), James Moverley, Paul Moll and Tom Hilling shared the Crayke goals.

Barmby Moor drew 2-2 at home with Selby Olympia.

Tom Gibson and Greg Nesbitt got the home side’s goals.

Reserve ‘A’ leaders Old Malton beat York St John 2-1 to extend their unbeaten run to 19 games.

The goalscorers were Jimmy Tonkinson and Sam Thackray.

Bishopthorpe jumped into second place following a 2-1 home win over Huntington Rovers, thanks to two goals from Scott Preston.

Chris Johnson netted for Rovers.

Neil Hunter converted a late penalty for Riccall United as they beat reserve ‘B’ leaders Thorpe United 2-1.

Dave Lyons had hit an early goal for Riccall, but that was cancelled out by Thorpe’s Will Ramsey.

Five goals were scored in the final ten minutes as Heworth pulled off a dramatic 5-4 win at Pocklington.

The hosts looked odds-on to extend their unbeaten run to eight games as they led 3-1, but the visitors suddenly found their form.

Goals from Gareth Sullivan, Darren Gargen and Steve Tait put Heworth up 4-3.

With two minutes remaining, Pocklington drew level only for James Dexter to hit Heworth’s winner in the dying seconds.

Colin Peach scored twice for Pock, with Sam Parkinson and an own goal completing their tally.

Chris Wiseman netted the first Heworth goal.

The only reserve ‘C’ game to beat the weather saw Nestlé defeat Civil Service 5-2.

After a goalless first half, Nestlé went in front with two goals in a minute from Chris Hallwell and Cliff Baxter.

They extended their lead with goals from Darren Heels and Hallwell before the visitors responded with quick-fire goals from Oliver Cook and Dave Thompson.

Daniel Coops wrapped up the win with Nestlé’s fifth three minutes from time.
