Derwent United go top of York Sunday Morning Football League after win over Cliffe

DERWENT United are the new leaders of division one in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League.

United took over in pole position after a 2-1 win over visitors Cliffe, who are without a win from six games at the basement.

Brian Howe and Andy Thornton netted for Derwent, while James Tweedie scored for Cliffe.

A brace each from Mark Woodward and Dean Walker plus a Craig McShane strike helped Severus to a 5-2 win at Selby Olympia. The Selby side’s goals came from Matty Howden and Haydn Parsonage.

Division two leaders Haxby Lions, who have yet to drop a point, beat visitors Hambleton 8-4.

Pete Dransfield and Adam Wash bagged three apiece, while Dave Thompson and Mike Taylor also scored.

On the scoresheet for Hambleton were Alex Ward, Dayle Teale, with a penalty, and Graeme Parker (2).

Second-placed Marcia Grey got back to winning ways with a 5-0 win over York Nomads, thanks to goals by Keith Potter, Roger Lorains, Mike South and Chris Murcutt (2).

Cueball’s Amos Laverack and Andy Thompson scored a brace apiece in a 5-2 win over Acorn. Dave Chapman also netted, while Acorn’s marksmen were Neil Richardson and Lee Bartlett.

Injury-hit Inland Revenue were no match for free-scoring Copmanthorpe as they went down 8-1. John Langley and Robin Bedford each scored twice to add to strikes by Gavin Harford, Matty Bastock, Joel Dixon and Michael Wise. Revenue’s reply came from George Trifan.

St John went eight points clear at the top of division three after beating second-placed Shoulder of Mutton 4-0.

A treble from Ian Huddlestone plus strikes by Jon Page and Gary Stewart helped Hambleton Lions beat Cawood 5-0 to claim third spot.

Britannia Tadcaster, with goals from Dave Malkinson (2), Matty Conway and Mark Pitts, beat visitors Acomb Athletic 4-2. Matty Jackson and Arron North scored for Athletic.

Acomb WMC beat division four north title rivals Hemingbrough 4-3. Dave Fleming’s second goal settled it after the sides were locked at 3-3 at half-time.

Tony Evans and Steve Cross also scored for Acomb, with Luke Zacharencho, Adrian Wood and Michael Young replying.

Leeman United thrashed Linton-on-Ouse 9-0, with Bradley Young leading the way with four. Also on target were James Clamp (2), Liam Stilgo, Jack Clayton and Adam Wood.

Goals from Rob Hulme, Paul West and Mark James helped Forest FC beat Cueball Reserves 3-2. Tom Wheatland and Neil Hunter replied.

Dan Langan’s hat-trick propelled Dinamo Megahorse to a 3-1 win at Selby RSSC, whose scorer was Matty Curotto.

Division four south leaders Barlby FC beat Huntsman 5-2 with goals from Lee Carter (2), Paul Hughes (2) and Dan Burt.

Gary Rylance got four as New Earswick beat LNER Builders 5-1.
