SIR DANCEALOT can spring a surprise of sorts in the Clipper Logistics Duke of York Stakes at York today.

Plenty of attention will surround Harry Angel, and rightly so after his efforts last season, but there are sound enough reasons to think David Elsworth's charge can give him at least give him a run for his money.

Chief among those is the fact Sir Dancealot is race-fit, following a good effort to chase home Brando in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket.

A gelding operation also seems to have been of benefit and while six and a half furlongs would doubtless be his trip if connections could pick an ideal one, having a horse on your side that will run to the line is never a bad thing.

The yard is on a high, too, following victory in a big handicap at Ascot on Saturday.

Highgarden gets the nod in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes. That John Gosden took enough positives from her run in defeat at Sandown to come to a race like this looks significant.

This will only be her third career outing and she is entitled to have learned plenty from that last outing, as she did not have to work at all hard to win her only juvenile outing.

Her trainer felt she got a little tapped for toe when the pace quickened at the Esher circuit, before finding her feet and staying on again.

While this is a major trial for the Oaks, it will probably be Royal Ascot and the Ribblesdale Stakes should things go to plan.

Newmarket handler Roger Varian also has a fine chance of a York winner as Zeelander looking a leading player in the Oaks Farm Stables Handicap.

Keep an eye on Flying Pursuit, trained by Tim Easterby, pictured, in the Infinity Tyres Handicap. The five-year-old has plenty of decent form on the Knavesmire and was not disgraced on his return to the fray at Ripon.

The three-runner race Mayson Mac won at Musselburgh was nothing to write home about, but he clearly has talent and should feel the benefit of the experience when he lines up for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.
