THE York & Ainsty Point-to-Point takes place tomorrow at Rising Sun Farm, Easingwold.

A total of 104 entries have been received. The first race is at 2pm. Admission is £10 per adult, and free for under-16s.

The opening Hunt Members race looks to be between a few contenders.

Carlos Gardel racked up a couple of victories last season including in this race, but they were in weak contests, and he carries a 5lb penalty. He has also made a below-par return this season,

Strongpoint used to be a top-class hurdler but is not the force he was. He won at Tranwell last season and showed up well for a long way in a hot Men's Open at Bedale until pulling up.

Thinger Litch may be the more likely type on form after his recent second to Wizadora, but he looks an unreliable type, has a 10lb penalty and was a well tailed off third in this last year behind Carlos Gardel.

Bobs Call made the placings in a couple of maidens but may be a class below these.

On Vacation has unseated riders on both starts this season but he may be the one to take a chance on. Anything faster than good would be ideal for him. He also had the beating of Strongpoint when winning a two-mile four-furlong race at Pendle last season.

The second race is a maiden for four, five and six-year-old.

There are several entries with form including One For Martha, who was a good second in a big field at Bisdale in a race which has resulted in a winner since.

Dressedforsuccess was fourth on his debut in a bumper at Alnwick, and Goody Hallett showed his first bit of form when fifth in the same race as One For Martha. His jumping had been suspect prior to that.

Impulsive Act previously showed plenty of potential and showed form when second at Witton Castle, while Joy At Midnight and Seeyouwhenugetthere are others with place claims.

The one that catches the eye is Talktomenow by Shirocco, owned and trained by Roger Marley, and a brother to a bumper-placed performer. He was bought for £14,000 last May.

It looks like Lottie Crane has all the aces in the Ladies Open as the highly progressive Ballinahow Bill could be well suited to this track if his quirks from the Holderness meet have been ironed out.

Crane could also have the option of point-to-point debutant Kilclispeen, a former inmate of Joseph O'Brien's yard and a three-time winner, most recently in a Downpatric chase last May.

The main danger could come from Rumble Of Thunder, who was a good second to Knocklong at Witton Castle and has performed well on this course before.

Another course winner is Lucky Cody who returned from a long break at Hexham to finish third.

The Men's Open seems to be between three horses, all of which ran at Witton Castle on Sunday.

Sposalizio is the likely winner after bouncing back to form to take the Men's Open where he had Martha's Benefit back in third. She is slowly coming to form but needs another step forward to bridge the seven-length gap that day.

Six A Side won the Confined race at Witton but was not overly convincing. His previous form would give him leading claims, though, and he is the only one of the three to escape a penalty.

Mickey Miller was a course winner last season but has been a no-show in two runs this year and was also behind Martha's Benefit in a Cartmel hunter chase last season.

The Restricted may see the Coward/Andrews bandwagon continue as maiden winner Aine's Choice, who was impressive at Witton Castle, could return here.

Calisson d'Alene is a candidate for forcing the pace after making all round Charm Park, while Thomas Todd is another who made the running last time and narrowly held on to win a three-runner maiden at Revsby Park on Saturday.

The penultimate race is the Riders Conditions Club race and most of the entries are double entered in both the Open races.

Kilclispeen and Nickey Miller, both from the John Dawson yard, could take their chances, while Roll The Dice took a big step up to finish second to Six A Side on Sunday and Charlotte Kemp could take off a handy 5lb.

Six A Side and Sposalizio both hold entries but may be more likely to attend the Open.

Tasheba, whose last effort was third to two decent rivals, can run well now the ground is drying up, while Refusal, although now 10 years old, was an impressive winner of his Restricted at Charm Par and could progress further.

The final race is an Open Maiden and again a number of the horses are double entered in the earlier maiden. Others include Raleagh Mountain, who after a few strong efforts bombed out at Charm Park and needs to get back on track, while Solitary Shore was a good third at Witton Castle and should progress.

Talktomenow is of interest along with One For Martha and Hows Jonny, who fell twice early on at the Cottenham meetings. He was booked for a place there and will need to shape up on his jumping.
