EMINENT may be the lowest rated of the seven runners who go to post for the bet365 Craven Stakes, but he can emerge as a true Classic contender by winning the feature event on the final day of Newmarket's Craven Meeting.

The likes of War Decree and Rivet certainly have more clear-cut credentials in the always-informative mile heat, but Martyn Meade's Eminent really caught the eye when winning a maiden at Headquarters last September.

As a son of Frankel from the family of Classic winner Yesterday, Eminent was never really going to be a zippy juvenile type, and Meade exercised patience before bringing this 150,000 guineas purchase to the track.

That decision paid dividends as Eminent posted a taking performance on his debut, showcasing a fine turn of pace to run out a stylish two-and-three-quarter-length winner with four of those in behind subsequently getting on the scoresheet themselves.

Meade has made no secret of the regard in which he holds this colt and the old chestnut that he could be anything really does apply at this stage.

Eminent has been set a tough enough task on his return today, but if he is to develop as connections hope, he can rise to the challenge and propel himself into the 2000 Guineas frame.

ORNATE can come of age in the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes.

The four-year-old is now with Robert Cowell, pictured, after what must have been a bit of a frustrating time with William Haggas last year.

He clearly has ability, as evidenced by his second in the 2015 Flying Childers and his third behind Easton Angel at Listed level last term, but he has yet to quite put all the pieces together.

Ornate finished second in his final three starts for Haggas last season, with his consistency seeing him climb back up to a rating of 104 after taking a bit of a dip in the earlier part of the campaign.

He has been gelded over the winter which might just help focus his mind a bit, while Cowell is very adept at finding improvement from horses such as this.

SALATEEN found Sovereign Debt a bit too sharp on All-Weather Championships Finals Day last week but he can gain swift compensation in the bet365 Handicap.

Winner of a Listed contest at Wolverhampton last month, Salateen was beaten just over a length at Lingfield with the mile really proving to be a stretch for his stamina.

Switching back to seven furlongs is a huge plus and he will be ready for action.

UAE PRINCE failed to fire on his final start last term but it is far too soon to write him off and he should be followed on his return in the RiponBET Silver Bowl Handicap at Ripon.

Third in what was an above-average Leicester maiden on his debut last April, he returned to that track in September to get a win on the board and was well-fancied to hit the target on his first handicap outing last October.

However, he flopped at Doncaster that day, finishing sixth of 12 runners with his cause hardly helped by being struck over the head by a rival's whip in the closing stages.

Uae Prince is surely better than that and his entry in a Newmarket Group Two next month suggestions connections still believe him to be a quality performer.

Paul Nicholls has some good chances at Cheltenham, with the on-song ANTARTICA DE THAIX setting the standard in the EBF/TBA Mares' Novices' Handicap Chase.
