ENNAADD can make his presence felt as he returns from a lay-off in this evening's Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Hyde Stakes at Kempton.

Clearly at home on an artificial surface, Roger Varian's son of King's Best – who held a 2000 Guineas engagement at one stage – has not been sighted since signing off from the last all-weather season back in April.

The three-year-old made relentless progress during his winter campaign, stepping up from a fair second behind Von Blucher last October to wallop subsequent London Gold Cup winner and French Derby also-ran Imperial Aviator by six lengths back in December.

Ennaadd did not look back after that, winning a Chelmsford handicap in February before a narrow victory in conditions company in April.

While he was only a head victor that day, the official margin does not really do him justice as the race was not really run to suit and his current mark of 106 probably better reflects his ability.

Ennaadd looks sure to improve again and, while fitness has to be taken on trust, victory in this fast-track qualifier can assure him a place on Finals Day next spring. Jack Mitchell rides today's nap selection.

WINNING STORY did not get chance to show what he is made of last time out, as he unshipped his rider coming out of the stalls, but compensation awaits in the 32Red Handicap.

He shaped with real promise when winning a Newmarket maiden back in April and was then upped to Listed level in the Lingfield Derby Trial, where he was well beaten by Humphrey Bogart as both the track and calibre of company appeared against him.

Winning Story stumbled in his first couple of strides on his return to the fray last month and Martin Lane stood little chance of maintaining the partnership. He should be allowed another chance here with Sean Levey on board.

HELL YEAH can make it two from two in the closing 32Red.com Handicap after winning at Kempton on his only start to date last August.

Formerly a Godolphin runner, Hell Yeah clearly has his issues as he did not make his racecourse bow until he was four and has not actually run again since.

That said, he looked decent in winning last year and connections would surely not persist unless they felt he could repay their faith in due course. Graham Lee has today's ride.

It was a tumultuous weekend for Nicky Henderson, seeing Sprinter Sacre depart for enforced retirement while Simonsig so sadly suffered a fatal fall at Cheltenham. Few racing fans, then, would begrudge him a nice winner to raise the stable's spirits.

TOP NOTCH looks just the horse to slightly lift the mood at Seven Barrows as he tackles the Highflyer/Million In Mind 4-Y-O & 5-Y-O Novices' Chase at Warwick.

He has proved aptly-named in the past, with his narrow second behind stablemate Peace And Co in the 2015 Triumph Hurdle showing just the kind of form he is capable of on his day.

Top Notch hit the bar on a couple of occasions last term, most notably when beaten just a neck in the Fighting Fifth, and there was no disgrace in finishing fifth behind Annie Power in the Champion Hurdle.

A switch to fences appears the logical choice this term though – and while he was only third on his debut at Uttoxeter last month, he was not beaten far at all by early Arkle hope Charbel and Sunday's Cheltenham winner Le Prezien.

Top Notch jumped well enough but looked as though he would progress for the run and this event looks an excellent stepping stone to better things in due course. Daryl Jacob is today's pilot.

MIDNIGHT MAESTRO made quite a splash when winning his only bumper start last term and is the one to watch in the opening PJ & KR Smith-Maxwell Horse Ambulances "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.

The four-year-old really impressed with his four-and-a-half-length verdict in a Doncaster bumper in March, overcoming his evident inexperience to win as he liked.

The Midnight Legend gelding, who is related to a handful of jumps winners, subsequently changed hands for £100,000 at the Doncaster sales and can make a winning debut under Barry Geraghty in the colours of JP McManus.

VERYGOODVERYGOOD can live up to his name in the 188bet.co.uk Conditional Jockeys' Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow.

The five-year-old glided clear at Ffos Las a week and a half ago and will be very tough to stop under a 7lb penalty with Ryan Hatch at the helm.
