SIR DANCEALOT is well worth an interest in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket today.

Trained by David Elsworth, whose horses have been in good order this month, the young colt must admittedly take a sizeable step forward on previous runs.

But Elsworth thinks the world of this one, having already identified potential Group One targets as he continues to strengthen and develop.

In the meantime, a shot at this Group Three over seven furlongs looks reasonably within his reach.

The two-year-old son of Sir Prancealot, whose progeny have excelled this season, made a quiet debut at Windsor in July, but he has since thrived on the Kempton all-weather.

A six-length maiden success gave a revealing insight into his quality, after which he claimed a hot conditions event by a length and a half from the well-regarded War Of Succession.

Sir Dancealot is quite an imposing thoroughbred but has demonstrated traits of head-strong naivety and greenness in his career so far.

With that very much in mind, there could be much more to come once if he has a sounder grasp of what is expected of him at Headquarters.

FLY AT DAWN finished third behind Sir Dancealot in that Kempton race two and a half weeks ago and can give the form a mighty shot in the arm by winning the Turftrax Nursery Handicap earlier on the card.

Godolphin's colt was always up against it with an 8lb penalty yet he still turned in an encouraging performance as he was beaten under two lengths.

What was perhaps noticeable that day was the way he kept at it over seven furlongs, which tends to suggest this step up to a mile will be just the ticket.

A winner of his first two races, Fly At Dawn has a good opportunity to kick on again for the Charlie Appleby team.

It will be good to see stablemate Sir Fever make his British debut in the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl over two miles.

A rather spectacular performer in his native Uruguay, it is interesting Appleby gives him the chance to shine within the staying ranks.

He is, though, a less compelling betting proposition as Sir Fever must surely have it all to prove on his first start for over 540 days.

To that end, it should be more beneficial to side with FUN MAC, who tends to come alive at this time of the year and finished a fine third in the Prix du Cadran on Arc weekend 12 months ago.

Having returned to winning form at Yarmouth a fortnight ago, trainer Hughie Morrison is clearly keen not to miss the boat while the five-year-old chestnut is in such decent nick.

SHABBAH'S progress has rather stalled after he knocked off three wins on the spin, but the return to a mile and a quarter might just do for him in the Simon Scrope Dalby Screw-Driver Handicap at Pontefract.
