QEYAADAH should be an appreciably fitter horse than at Epsom in June when he takes aim at today's Weatherbys Handicap at Leicester.

This Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year-old was considered good enough to run at Royal Ascot last year.

Yet the son of Acclamation did not pull up any trees in the Coventry Stakes, nor did he really kick on in three previous runs last season.

It was, then, not too much of surprise to see Qeyaadah gelded over the winter. That procedure seemingly helped sharpen his mind, judged by a really satisfactory return to the fray at Epsom.

Qeyaadah was not fully wound up after a long absence but he still showed a degree of vigour to finish third in a competitive seven-furlong handicap.

With King's Pavilion, the winner that day, now plying his trade in valuable heritage handicaps, the form has a nice look to it.

The expectation is that today's nap selection, ridden by Paul Hanagan, will have improved a great deal from Epsom and that he still has the scope to do a bit of damage this winter.

ROCK STEADY has been found a neat opportunity to get his nose back in front when he runs under George Baker in the Len Chesters Celebration Handicap.

A pleasing scorer over a mile and a quarter at Windsor on July 25, he could not quite bring home a course-and-distance double a few weeks later.

Roger Charlton's three-year-old was, however, a little unfortunate that day as he was impeded late in the piece and only went down by a short head to Landwade Lad.

The gelded son of Intikhab could be a natural on his first start over a mile and a half, while this does not look quite as hot an encounter as on his last Windsor run.

ORNATE has rather been a nearly horse during his short career but a first-time tongue-tie might well be the solution in the EBF Stallions Prestwold Conditions Stakes.

William Haggas' colt finished second in the Flying Childers at Doncaster this time last year but he has not won since then and has slipped to a mark of 102.

Yet Ornate should never be dismissed in this sort of company and it could be prescient that Ryan Moore is back on board.

ALTHAROOS might go well at a fair old price in the Pinnacle Racing Syndicate Shares Available Handicap at Redcar.

Sally Hall's six-year-old has not hit the target since August 2015 but this is reflected in his handicap mark.

Perhaps significantly, Altharoos suggested he was coming back to hand over this course and distance on August 27, when he stuck on nicely for fifth spot behind Fuwairt. Dougie Costello is in the saddle today.
