ZONDERLAND can do the business for the Clive Cox team in the totepool Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury.

The talented Lambourn handler thinks the absolute world of this colt, who surely has what it takes to win a Group Three.

Zonderland did not do a great deal wrong as a juvenile – he easily won his maiden and was a bit unlucky in big races at Newmarket and Newbury – but he looks to have stepped up nicely as a three-year-old.

The son of Dutch Art was firstly given the chance to shine in the 2000 Guineas, when he turned in a really grand effort despite having been sent off at 33-1.

Zonderland ended up finishing sixth but he was trapped for room inside the final furlong so actually did well to get to within under six lengths of Galileo Gold.

Cox's inmate handsomely backed up that run in the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown, when he breezed readily clear of Atlantic Sun on fast ground.

The form also looks watertight, as horses well in arrears that day like Forge and Royal Artillery have capably held their own in Pattern company, with the latter having won a Group Three at Haydock last weekend.

Zonderland was then admittedly disappointing in the Group One Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly last month – but he was not the only good horse to disappoint in France that day and even raced with earnest for a long way until he wilted towards the death.

Back in more comfortable environs and significantly down in grade, the Sovereign Stakes – won by the Cox-trained Kodi Bear last year – looks an ideal next port of call. Oisin Murphy rides today's nap selection.

BABYFACT, ridden by Jim Crowley, should be followed in the proceeding Bill Garnett Memorial Fillies' Handicap.

Malcolm Saunders' mare was desperately unfortunate in her pursuit of a Bath double last week as she encountered all manner of traffic problems.

Once daylight appeared she flew home to finish second behind Dusty Blue, so is clearly on top of her form.

Clearly not out of it from a handicapping perspective, Babyfact can set the record straight.

TWIN POINT, who has Stevie Donohoe on board, should not be passed over in the totetrifecta Pick The 1,2,3 Handicap at Yarmouth's evening meeting.

The Charlie Fellowes-trained five-year-old bumped into one over this course and distance on July 26, when the unbeaten Takatul proved too sharp in receipt of weight.

That was Twin Point's first start since January, so one can logically assume he will strip a little fitter for this assignment.

Runaway York winner FULL DAY found Listed company and a drop in distance too overwhelming at Newmarket last month but looks to have been shrewdly placed for the two-mile RB Handicap at Beverley. Ben Curtis has the mount.
