BAILEYS MIRAGE may have disappointed on turf last time out but she should certainly not be written off as she returns to the all-weather in the totequadpot Handicap at Chelmsford this evening.

The five-year-old appears to reserve her best for the artificial surfaces with each of her six wins to date coming at all-weather venues, most recently when striking at Newcastle in May.

Bred and campaigned in France until the start of 2016, Baileys Mirage wasted no time in making an impact in Britain as she landed a Kempton handicap in March, albeit on the back of the first past the post being disqualified.

She was well clear of the rest that day and showed it was no flash in the pan as she triumphed on each of her next three starts, climbing 14lb in the ratings in the process.

Baileys Mirage's relentless march through the ranks came to an end when beaten at Lingfield in May before bouncing back at Newcastle and suffering another defeat at Chelmsford in mid-June.

Trainer Chris Dwyer's decision to try her on turf at Pontefract then failed to pay dividends as the Desert Style mare faded in the finish after trying to force matters early on.

Now on a mark of 85, she has clearly got to be at her best to defy a career-high rating but Baileys Mirage does not appear to have finished improving yet. Silvestre De Sousa rides today's nap selection.

CERTIFIED can make it three wins in as many outings in the toteexacta Handicap under Luke Morris.

This Raven's Pass filly hails from the family of dual Group Three winner Laaheb, so James Tate was likely hoping she would show some ability when making a belated racecourse bow at Chelmsford last November.

She did not disappoint, though, shaking off some signs of greenness to land something of a gamble by half a length on what proved to be her only juvenile outing.

Trainer Tate then gave her plenty of time to strengthen up, leaving her on the sidelines until the beginning of this month when she returned in a moderate seven-furlong heat at Wolverhampton.

Certified was by far the least exposed runner that day and her initial mark of 75 appeared generous in the aftermath as she won with only the minimum of fuss.

An 8lb hike has been imposed by the handicapper but even that extra burden should not be enough to stop a filly who is firmly on the up.

TOPOLOGY, ridden by Shane Kelly, can shed his maiden tag in the totequadpot Races 3, 4, 5 And 6 Handicap at Ffos Las.

The three-year-old will be having just his fifth career start but trainer Joseph Tuite could have found him just the opportunity he needs to get his head in front.

Barring the ninth place he achieved on his racecourse debut last September, Topology has been thereabouts on his three other starts, finishing fourth twice and third once, with that last frame finish coming at Windsor last month.

Making his handicap bow at the Berkshire venue, there was more than a glimmer of promise about his two-and-a-half-length defeat and he must be one for the shortlist off the same mark here.

ROC DE PRINCE makes a swift return after winning at Ayr last week and the hint should be taken at Musselburgh.

Keith Dalgleish's charge ran out a comfortable two-and-a-half-length winner of an apprentice handicap and the trainer is clearly keen to capitalise on that success before the handicapper has his say.

Roc De Prince escapes any kind of penalty and it would be dangerous to ignore his excellent claims under Joe Fanning in the Real Water Handicap.
