ACROSS THE STARS can give Sir Michael Stoute a fourth victory in the Betfred Derby Trial Stakes at Lingfield.

Stoute was last successful two years ago with Snow Sky and while that one did not actually make the Derby, he was nevertheless a smart performer, going on to finish third in the St Leger as well as winning the likes of the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot the following year.

The Derby Trial has not produced the subsequent Epsom victor since High-Rise in 1998 – and while it would be a stretch to suggest Across The Stars is a live contender at this stage, victory here would see his current odds of 50-1 shortened dramatically.

This son of Sea The Stars has done all his racing on the all-weather so far, twice finishing second over a mile at the end of 2015 before stepping up to a mile and a half to claim a first win at Lingfield last month.

The form of that race would hardly be world class but Across The Stars' ability shone through as he scored by two lengths, despite running a bit green and having to set his own pace.

A real galloping type, he pulled clear in the final furlong with only the minimum of encouragement to suggest that a step up to this sort of level would be well within his compass, even if the Derby is ultimately beyond him. Silvestre de Sousa has the ride on today's nap selection.

SEVENTH HEAVEN is similarly improving for Aidan O'Brien in the Betfred Mobile Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes.

The Galileo filly was well beaten in two starts last term but opened her 2016 campaign with an impressive Dundalk maiden win last month.

Racing over a mile, Seventh Heaven took a while to find her stride but, once she hit top gear, she caught the eye in winning by three and a quarter lengths.

She looked as though a further step up in trip would suit and she could yet emerge as a Classic outsider for Ballydoyle. Ryan Moore takes the reins today.

LIGHT MUSIC, ridden by Oisin Murphy, is sure to be a popular winner if she can score in the Betfred "Be Part Of The Action" Chartwell Fillies' Stakes.

Owned and bred by the Queen, the Elusive Quality filly was not beaten far by Nathra on her racecourse bow last term and went on to win by 14 lengths at Leicester next time.

Upped to Listed company at Newbury on her final start of the season, Light Music saw off Her Majesty's second string Make Fast by a head – and as the pair meet on level terms again, there is no reason to believe she cannot confirm that form.

She has a bit to find, with the likes of Rah Rah and Ashadihan on the official figures, but Light Music looks a filly on the up.

ACCESSION can be the star of the show in the totescoop6 Victoria Cup at Ascot.

The seven-year-old has paid the price for his six-length victory at Newmarket last time with a 9lb hike in the weights but he could still be feasibly treated on the pick of his form.

Haydock stages its annual mixed card of Flat and jumps action and MARKAZ is the choice in the Pertemps Network Spring Trophy Stakes.

The four-year-old held his own at a decent level last term and his reappearance run at Leicester last month should have sharpened him up nicely for this.

ALL SET TO GO can lift the main jumps prize, the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, for Paul Nicholls. He is on a hat-trick after two wins at Taunton and is clearly enjoying the spring ground and sunshine.

IMTIYAAZ can make the transition to Listed performer by landing the EBF Stallions Weatherbys General Stud Book Kilvington Fillies' Stakes at Nottingham.

LADY LEKKI is the choice in the Elwick Stud Handicap at Thirsk, with MISS JOEKING taken to emerge victorious in the greatrun.org Novices' Hurdle at Hexham.

Rejaah can strike gold again in the Local Parking Security Proudly Warwick Fillies' 4-Y-O Handicap Hurdle at Warwick.
