MAGICAL Memory made astonishing strides from handicapper to Group One contender last term and he can pick up where he left off in the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon.

The four-year-old lined up in a handicap at this meeting last April, finishing fourth off a perch of 87, but his season took a significant upturn from his Leicester win in May.

While he was beaten in a competitive event at York by future Group One winner Twilight Son, Magical Memory landed a Newmarket handicap before going on to a big payday in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood.

Charlie Hills then stepped him up to Group One company in the Haydock Sprint Cup and while Twilight Son again proved too good, Magical Memory was beaten just three-quarters of a length to end the campaign on a mark of 114.

Being a gelding, connections have outlined plans to tackle all the top events in 2016 and this event looks an ideal starting point.

It will be a major surprise if Foundation cannot make a winning return to action in the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes.

John Gosden's charge was one of the juvenile stars of last season, although when his moment in the spotlight came in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, he fluffed his lines and had to settle for place money.

He was sent off an odds-on favourite on Town Moor last October, having progressed from a comfortable Haydock maiden win to Listed glory at the Merseyside track before going on to land the Royal Lodge at Newmarket.

Foundation thoroughly impressed with his success at Headquarters and the Doncaster Group One was seen as something of a penalty kick by many for the son of Zoffany.

However, Frankie Dettori could not find a clear path through with two furlongs to run and again met trouble in the final furlong before staying on for a four-length third behind Marcel.

Dettori was far from hard on his mount at the finish so Foundation is likely a good bit better than the official margin suggestions while Gosden had outlined worries about the easy ground before the off too.

Conditions could again be on the softer side here which is certainly not ideal and while he has a couple of pounds to find with Stormy Antartic, Foundation appeals as a horse on the up and he can underline his Classic potential.

The £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy offers up an excellent prize which looks likely to go the way of Landofhopeandglory.

Aidan O'Brien's runner showed up at a decent level last term and has a fair bit in hand of his rivals here.

There is some pretty run of the mill stuff on offer at both Chelmsford and Ripon, with Bournemouth Belle looking the pick in the Bet Scoop6Soccer At Betfred Shops Fillies' Handicap at the first-named venue.

Cape Love finished well behind Foundation in that Listed heat at Haydock on his final start last term but the Ripon "Cock O' The North" Handicap looks a much more suitable assignment to begin his campaign.

Cheltenham stages the second of two classy days with the mares set to take centre stage at Prestbury Park.

Bon Chic makes plenty of appeal for Dan Skelton in the EBF/Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Mares' Novices' Chase Finale having cantered home a 37-length winner at Fakenham last time.

She had previously chased home Bristol De Mai at Leicester last December, with a repeat of that form putting her right on the premises for this event.

Treaty Girl is worth a shout as she takes a step up to Listed class in the Arkells Brewery Mares' Handicap Hurdle.

She has impressed in winning her last two starts and could still have a bit more improvement to come.
