UNDER SIEGE showed up well on his recent return to action and that run should have put him spot on for this evening's 32Red.com Handicap at Kempton.

David Simcock only picked up the four-year-old towards the end of last season with the son of Invincible Spirit having previously been trained by Kevin Ryan, winning one of his three starts before changing hands for 25,000 guineas last July.

He failed to cut much ice on his first couple of outings for Simcock before a switch to the all-weather at Chelmsford in October brought about a first win for new connections.

Under Siege was an easy winner that day, a fact that was not lost on the handicapper as he raised his handicap mark by 9lb in time for his reappearance at Chelmsford earlier this month.

He ran well off that revised figure and from an unfavourable draw, closing in on the winner towards the finish but just failing to get up by half a length.

A further 2lb rise for that defeat is a bit harsh but Sophie Killoran will once again be in the plate to take off a handy 7lb and she has forged a good relationship with this runner, who is today's nap selection.

TORREON has had his career hindered by a knee injury so far but he appears to be firing on all cylinders now and the 32Red Handicap looks a good opportunity for him under Adam Kirby.

The five-year-old did not make his debut until this February when he finished a fair fourth at Wolverhampton, stepping up on that next time to finish second before finally getting his head in front on his most recent outing.

That was a decent effort and he appeared to be good value for his three-length verdict as he was still very green in the race, suggesting further progress here is not out of the question.

ELUSIVITY is twice a winner at Southwell, so at least we know he is fully effective on the Fibresand ahead of the Daily Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap.

A number of his better efforts have come at the Nottinghamshire venue, winning his last two starts there before going on to claim further success at Wolverhampton last time out.

He is clearly in fine form and it would be dangerous to discount his claims, with Paul Mulrennan taking the ride.

Malcolm Jefferson has two very interesting horses running at Haydock, with DOUBLE W'S first up in the Molson Coors (Whizz Kids) Novices' Hurdle.

He can be counted as one of the most unlucky losers of the season so far at Catterick last time out when he was badly hampered by a faller down the back straight and must have been 20 lengths adrift of eventually winner Wade Harper.

Initially jockey Brian Hughes did not seem to think he had a chance of catching the leader but he was staying on hand over fist to be beaten just three-quarters of a length.

Meanwhile, SHARPASAKNIFE was an impressive Wetherby winner on his debut and can return to winning ways in the Abram "Fixed Brush" Novices' Handicap Hurdle.

Market Rasen probably would not have suited this scopey type last time out but he was still not disgraced and looks a smart prospect for the future.

At Warwick, Dan Skelton's WALKING IN THE AIR can open his account in the opening MHM Maiden Hurdle.

He has had the misfortune of bumping into some above-average recruits to date but has been sent off for each of them so must show plenty at home.
