FREUD landed some large bets for an associate of trainer Ian Williams at Chelmsford last Saturday and he can follow up in the totequadpot Racing's Four Legged Friend Handicap back at the Essex track this evening.

The six-year-old was a winner for Pascal Bary in France back in 2013 but before his victory of last weekend, Freud had failed to land a real blow in seven starts for Williams.

Indeed, he had finished stone last on a couple of occasions – but his fourth place at Wolverhampton in early January hinted at a bit of ability, which he duly showed when winning by three-quarters of a length at Chelmsford.

Freud showed a nice turn of foot to quicken away and the fact that Williams is eager to make a speedy return to the racecourse should be noted.

While the Dalakhani gelding must shoulder a 6lb penalty here, he is expected to put up another good show for 3lb George Downing as today's nap.

CLIVE CLIFTON is another who makes a swift return to the fray, having been narrowly denied victory last week.

Yet to hit the target in 11 starts, he appreciated a drop in company when beaten just a head at Kempton by a rival who appears to be on the upgrade.

David Evans turns him out again quickly in the opening toteplacepot Racing's Favourite Bet Handicap before the handicapper has chance to reassess his mark. Philip Prince has the ride.

Connections of WHAT COULD SHE BE will be hoping for victory in the Coral Handicap at Southwell with a date at the sales on the horizon.

The Dark Angel filly is due to go through the ring at Doncaster at the end of the month and a win here under jockey Paul Mulrennan would certainly augment her price a little.

She struck gold over a mile at this track back in November and while the step up to 12 furlongs is not certain to suit, it is an interesting move on trainer Michael Dods' behalf.

ERTIDAAD did not really excel over seven furlongs last time but should appreciate the switch back to six in the Daily Unibet Early Prices From 9am Handicap. Tom Queally is on board.

KALANE can start to rebuild her confidence in the European Breeders' Fund/Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Mares' Novices' Chase at Ludlow, with Richard Johnson today's jockey.

The dual hurdles winner had shown plenty of promise on her chasing bow when making all to run out a 31-length winner at Huntingdon at the beginning of last month.

However, a step up in class at Doncaster proved beyond her just before the turn of the year, coming down at the fourth-last obstacle in a race eventually won by the useful Ma Filleule.

Kalane was still in with a chance of victory at that stage and had largely jumped well, so it is hoped that experience will not leave a permanent mark on her.

At Wincanton, SERENITY NOW can claim top honours in the Higos Insurance Services Yeovil Handicap Hurdle with Craig Gallagher on board.

He has not run over hurdles since November but has had a couple of Flat starts in the interim, meaning he should be fit for action here.
