SHERIFF Hutton trainer Mick Easterby sends Perfect Pasture on the long journey to Chelmsford today for a valuable prize – and the hint is worth taking.

The mount of accomplished apprentice Nathan Evans, the sprinter lines up for the £45,000 Bet totetrifecta Handicap.

Perfect Pasture finished a good fourth at Doncaster earlier this month and had previously finished a close-up third at York.

The five-year-old is no stranger to running on an artificial surface and has won three of his eight all-weather starts. He is expected to go well with Evans' 7lb claim helping to put him in this five furlong dash with a favourable weight.

Graham Gibbons can also make his journey from North Yorkshire to Chelmsford pay off by winning the Bet totequadpot Handicap, also worth £45,000, on the Stuart Williams-trained Realize.

A creditable third to Popeswood at Newmarket three weeks ago, Realize will not be at all inconvenienced by returning to an artificial surface having won six of his 13 all-weather races. He is expected to go well.

Lady Lydia catches the eye in the totepool Racing's Biggest Supporter Handicap.

A close-up second to Wink Oliver on this course 11 days ago, Lady Lydia looked unlucky that day, having missed a beat at the start and also found trouble in running.

A clean run this time should help her prospects of going one better with Daniel Muscutt in the saddle.

Also worth noting at Chelmsford are nap selection Fighting Temeraire (2.35), a Windsor winner who looks well weighted on his handicap bow, and the Philip Kirby-trained Moshe (4.35), a horse in good form lately.

At Kempton, Risk A Fine is fancied to pick up where he left off last season in the Larkshill Engineering Network Handicap Chase.

The Philip Hobbs-trained gelding won his final two starts last term at Market Rasen and Worcester.

He looks the type to go on again this season over fences and, with the Hobbs' team in such good form, he is clearly not one to underestimate. Tom O'Brien has the mount.

Lettheriverrundry makes appeal in the opening Coolmore EBF Stallions Novices' Hurdle after his luckless defeat on this course three weeks ago.

Trained by Brendan Powell for JP McManus, the gelding held a narrow advantage at the final flight only to lose his footing on landing and forfeit his lead. Beaten a length and quarter by Imperial Presence, Lettheriverrundry would surely have won without any mishaps. He is fancied to go one better despite facing two or three formidable-looking rivals.

The featured £25,000 OLBG Mares' Hurdle offers Polly Peachum the chance to start her season on a winning note.

The same might well have been said of Nicky Henderson's charge in this race last year. but she was clearly not herself and was pulled-up after being sent off the odds-on favourite.

She was subsequently given a break, but she returned in fine form to finish second to Glens Melody in Grade 1 company at the Cheltenham Festival and to win in Listed company at Sandown. She is plainly the form horse in this field.

Henderson can also win the Starlight Novices' Chase with Vaniteux, the mount of Nico de Boinville.

Although his form tailed-off on his final two starts last season, Vaniteux is a very able hurdler as he showed when chasing home The New One in the Grade 2 International Hurdle at Cheltenham before Christmas.

Rated 150 over the smaller obstacles, he looks a very smart recruit to the chasing game.

Paddys Runner may lack the experience of his rivals in the concluding Starlight Children's Foundation Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle, but Alan King's three-year-old promises to make a bold bid.

Winner of two of his three races over hurdles, at Plumpton and Bangor, Paddys Runner has made a good impression in juvenile company.

This is tougher against more seasoned rivals, but provided his jumping stands up, he ought to go well.
