VETERAN Sheriff Hutton trainer Mick Easterby has recruited the services of Frankie Detttori, the world's most famous jockey, at Doncaster this afternoon.

The pair team-up in the feature race in which Easterby saddles Aetna, a confirmed mud-lover, who will relish any ease in the expected good-to-soft ground on Town Moor.

It is rare for Easterby to seek the services of Dettori. Trainer and jockey have joined forces only three times in the last five years, and all three associations were unsuccessful. Perhaps today' mission will prove more fruitful.

Aetna is a very capable sprinter on her day, given her ideal conditions, and she made a perfectly satisfactory return to action at York last month when fifth to Shared Equity in a 15-strong field in a valuable handicap.

That was Aetna's first outing since July and she should have benefited accordingly. She has weight to concede all round in the £19,000 Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager Handicap over six furlongs. It would be no surprise if she makes a bold bid, and any rain that falls at Doncaster between now and mid-afternoon will only serve to increase her chances.

Richard Fahey has good prospects of landing the opening Moran Nursery Handicap with Dolphin Vista.

The two-year-old came good at York last time when relishing the one-mile trip, which he faces again this afternoon. This is a tougher ask for him, but Dolphin Vista looks to be thriving at present and he is expected to give Tony Hamilton a good ride.

Magic Circle may prove the answer to the betdaq.com £50 in Free Bets Handicap.

Ralph Beckett's three-year-old is improving fast and ran out a gutsy winner at Haydock last week to make it three wins from her last four starts. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to halt her progress in this one and three-quarter miles contest.

Father Bertie may prove the solution the Betdaq - Serious About Racing Handicap.

The Tim Easterby-trained gelding got home by a whisker in a tight finish with stablemate Mystic Miraaj in Redcar's Straight-Mile Championship Final three weeks ago. More is required here, but this extra couple of furlongs has the potential of eking out further improvement from Father Bertie, who will appreciate the forecast easy ground. David Allan rides.

David O'Meara has secured the services of the vastly experienced Simon Walker for Marakib in the Download The Beetdaq App Amateur Riders' Handicap (division one) and the hint should be taken.

The gelding relished the step up to this distance of a mile and a quarter at Leicester last week and is fancied to defy a 6lb penalty.

Also worth noting at Doncaster, where tomorrow the Racing Post Trophy - the final Group 1 race of the domestic season - takes place, are the promising Zest (2-00), trained by the in-form James Fanshawe, and Night To Remember (2-35), who likewise made an encouraging debut. The pair contest successive juvenile maidens.

Today sees jumping action return to Cheltenham for the first time since the spring, a sure sign that the National Hunt campaign is now getting into top gear.

One of the feature races on the seven-race card is the Ryman Stationery Cheltenham Business Club Novices' Chase in which Rebecca Curtis bids to land the honours for the second successive year.

Twelve months ago Curtis scored with The Romford Pete and it looks significant that the trainer has chosen this target for nap selection Vintage Vinnie, who created a really good impression on his chasing debut at Worcester, where he ran out a convincing winner.

Irish trainer Jessica Harrington has good prospects in the opening two races with Sandymount Duke (2-10) and Rock The World (2-45), a brace of horses who know how to win, while Mr Shantu (3-20) is also worth noting.

The gelding is again the mount of Patrick Cowley, who has won on him the last twice, most recently by six lengths Warwick.
