FERGAL Lynch, who teamed-up with North Yorkshire trainer David O'Meara to pull off a sensational Group 1 victory with last month's York winner Mondialiste in the Woodbine Mile in Canada on Sunday, is back to bread-and-butter fare at Catterick this afternoon.

Lynch, though, is fancied to figure among the winners aboard ALEKSANDAR in the Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Handicap.

Trained by Jim Goldie, the six-year-old returned to winning ways with Lynch in the saddle at Musselburgh recently when getting home narrowly from Jan Smuts. That victory came hot on the heels of a succession of respectable efforts in defeat.

Aleksandar has risen only marginally in the ratings since his Scottish success and may well be able to follow up this afternoon for the in-form Lynch. He is awarded the nap vote.

Jamie Spencer, successful on the Richard Fahey-trained George Bowen in a valuable handicap at the Curragh on Sunday, can win Catterick's opening ebfstallions.com Maiden Stakes on GENO for Kevin Ryan, whose Kelinni was a winner at Leopardstown on Saturday night.

Geno has finished runner-up in two of his three starts, at Haydock and York. He looks capable of winning the first division of this maiden.

In the second leg, Fahey's ORMSKIRK has a bright chance. Runner-up at Redcar on his debut before finishing on the heels of the placed horses at Newcastle, Ormskirk now steps back to six furlongs from seven. He is well drawn in stall one.

Less well drawn – but not without a winning chance in the CNG Handicap – is EDGAR BALTHAZAR, trained by Keith Dalgleish.

A winner at Newcastle before finishing second at Redcar on his latest outing, the three-year-old now steps up to seven furlongs. The extra distance is not expected to be a negative but his wide draw in stall 12 may make life tougher for him.

Middleham trainer Sean Regan, who has only a tiny string, has done well with TOURTIERE, who runs in the Racing Again This Saturday Handicap.

The seven-year-old was a shock winner of the Ripon Ladies' Derby in mid-summer and has since won again at Musselburgh.

He lost no caste in defeat when third, again at Musselburgh, on his most recent outing. He is entitled to go well in the hands of Jenny Powell, who claims a valuable 5lb allowance.

At Carlisle's twilight meeting, NINETTA will be hard to beat in the Baines Wilson LLP Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Ann Duffield's juvenile ran a race full of promise on her recent debut at Beverley when chasing home the well-regarded Zaina Rizeena. Ninetta looked green that day. She will be more experienced this time and promises to be a tough nut to crack.

Duffield, whose horses are running well, can also make her presence felt with MASTER CLOCKMAKER in the second division of the North Associates Handicap.

Lightly-raced this season, the gelding produced a solid effort when finishing second at Wetherby on his most recent outing at the end of July.

Tim Easterby, whose PACNGO was a winner at Carlisle three weeks ago – and who is among the Catterick selections this afternoon – has a couple of winning chances on the Cumbrian course.

ANOTHER ROYAL, although not the most predictable of sprinters, is expected to go well in the Land And Lakes Handicap, while POET MARK can make good use of his light weight in the Yesss Electricals Handicap.
