MAYFAIR LADY, who ran her rivals ragged at York's Ebor Festival, makes the long journey to Salisbury today in a bid to stamp her authority in a higher grade.

The Country Gentleman's Association Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes is the target for Richard Fahey's speedy filly, whose five-lengths success in York's £50,000 nursery came on the back of a seven-lengths win at Pontefract and was hugely impressive.

The handicapper, unsurprisingly, showed the Malton speedster no mercy for her Knavesmire demolition job. She was raised a hefty 17lb in one hit to a mark of 104, which means a step into Pattern company is now inevitable.

This afternoon's Group 3 showpiece has attracted an eight-strong field, including a strong pair of Richard Hannon runners in Bahaarah and Whatdoiwantthatfor, the useful Thatsallimsaying and Henry Candy's La Rioja, a wide-margin winner of a Newbury maiden.

Mayfair Lady has plenty on her plate but her proven ability to act on easy ground and her lightning speed should stand her in good stead. She is fancied to show her rivals a clean pair of heels with Jack Garritty maintaining his partnership.

Garritty also rides Fahey's NOVINOPHOBIA in the Irish Yearling Sales Nursery Handicap.

The juvenile overcame a wide draw to win well at Musselburgh last week and, with a steep rise in his rating forthcoming, he runs here in advance of being reassessed under 6lb penalty.

Fahey has two of the six runners in the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners 'Lochsong' Fillies' Handicap. Both Lacing and Bond's Girl have solid chances on their best form and BOND'S GIRL, another of Garritty's mounts, is marginally preferred, given her liking for soft ground.

At Haydock, Norton trainer John Quinn has good prospects with IKERRIN ROAD in the Betfred Mobile Maiden Stakes.

The juvenile went down narrowly on his debut at Newcastle, where he showed plenty of speed before being outpointed late on. He switches back to six furlongs from seven here and it would be no surprise to see him go one better. Phil Makin has the mount.

All eyes will be on RICHARD PANKHURST in the Betfred TV EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes.

John Gosden's colt created a good impression last season, winning the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot in decisive style. He has been delayed appearing this season but holds a whole host of fancy entries, including one in a Group 1 contest, between now and the end of the campaign.

He ought to be winning this event if he is to step up into top-level company later on. William Buick takes the mount.

PENHILL blotted his copybook at York a fortnight ago when unseating his jockey before the start of the opening race on the second day and running loose before being withdrawn.

Hopefully, he will be on his best behaviour this afternoon prior to contesting the Betfred 'Racing's Biggest Supporter' Handicap.

Runner-up at Pontefract prior to his York appearance, he looks sure to win a handicap or two before the end of the season and opportunity could come knocking for him here. He carries the nap vote.

The consistent NORMANDY KNIGHT (3.35) and ORIENTAL TIGER (5.10), who makes the long journey from Jim Goldie's Glasgow yard, are two others worth noting.
