SAMMY JO BELL, who has received a call-up to ride in the International Shergar Cup series at Ascot on Saturday, can advertise her talents at Haydock this afternoon.

The Malton-based apprentice, who is standing in for the injured Cathy Gannon at Ascot – where she will have four mounts, chosen randomly, in some high-class and valuable races – is fancied to score on SANDGATE for her boss Richard Fahey in Haydock's opening contest.

A winner on this course on his penultimate outing, Sandgate looked slightly unlucky on his latest start at Ayr where the slow pace was against him before he stayed on strongly to finish third.

He can resume winning ways today for Bell, who is enjoying an excellent season with 18 winners to her credit.

PYJAMA PARTY may prove the solution to the Racing UK IPad App racinguk.com/mobile Handicap.

Trained by William Haggas, the three-year-old ran out an easy winner at Ripon two outings ago and has since finished a creditable second at Sandown. Opportunity may be knocking for him here to get back on top under Pat Cosgrave.

Norton jockey George Chaloner has bright prospects aboard MO HENRY in the Steve Prescott Foundation Handicap.

The three-year-old, trained by Richard Whitaker, finished second at Wolverhampton last month and if that performance can now be reproduced on turf, a bold bid is expected.

Also worth noting at Haydock are well-bred newcomer SPANISH CITY (2.40) and the hat-trick seeking QUICKASWECAN (3.40), who represents up-and-coming trainer Ivan Furtado.

At Newcastle's evening meeting, CANDELISA is napped to lift the bet365 Nursery for Middleham trainer Jedd O'Keefe, who is enjoying a good season.

Candelisa made it third-time lucky at Ayr last time when prevailing in a photo-finish. There is more to come from him and he is fancied to oblige again raised to seven furlongs for the first time.

Anna Hesketh, apprenticed to Sessay trainer David Nicholls, has struck up a good association with WOR LASS, who she rides again in the Bingo At bet365 Handicap.

Wor Lass has won her last three races and Hesketh has been in the saddle for two of those victories. The seven-year-old has been found another good opportunity here and could well hit the target again.

Norton trainer Suzzanne France has good prospects of winning the Casino At bet365 Handicap with AD VITAM, the mount of Paddy Mathers.

Ad Vitam ran a blinder at York recently to finish a close-up second and only needs to reproduce that performance to be firmly on the premises this evening.

Also worthy of attention are the consistent DIDDY ERIC (5.30), trained by Micky Hammond, and Bryan Smart's promising EXTORTION (6.35), who made an encouraging debut when second at Redcar last week. The son of Kheleyf is selected to go one better with Joe Fanning in the saddle.
