SIR Michael Stoute can take Classic honours at Epsom today by clinching the £450,000 Investec Oaks with Crystal Zvezda, the mount of Richard Hughes.

Lightly-raced and open to heaps of improvement, the three-year-old is fancied to come out on top in a tricky race and which includes the first and second from last month's Musidora Stakes, Star Of Seville and and Together Forever, both of whom look leading players.

Crystal Zvezda, however, also looks sure to play a big part for Stoute, who is chasing his third Oaks success but his first since the 1980s.

A daughter of Dubawi, she looked good in Listed company at Newbury on her reappearance over a mile and a quarter. The step up to a mile and a half promises to bring out even more improvement in her and she is taken to write her name into the Oaks roll of honour.

Star Of Seville, Together Forever and the French challenger Al Naamah represent potent dangers, among others, in what promises to be a fascinating race.

Stoute can also score with Abseil in the Investec Mile.

The five-year-old won the corresponding race 12 months ago and although he is 7lb higher this time, he should be hard to beat after his third-placed effort on his comeback outing at York last month.

David O'Meara saddles Custom Cut in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes and the six-year-old is expected to make a bold bid under Ryan Moore, standing in for injured stable jockey Danny Tudhope.

For all his prowess, however, Custom Cut has work to do to turn the tables on Arod, who finished comfortably ahead of him in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on their latest starts.

Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt, who had previously finished second to French Navy at Newmarket, can make it third-time-lucky for Andrea Atzeni.

Nap selection Bold Lass can get Epsom punters off to a winning start in the opening Princess Elizabeth Stakes.

David Lanigan's filly made a winning start to the season at Windsor last month which took her tally on turf to four wins from six starts. Bold Lass now steps up from handicap company to Group 3 level. She looks more than up to the required standard.

At Catterick, Glenrowan Rose may be the solution to the opening British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes.

Keith Dalgleish's juvenile finished a neck second to Fireglow on this course last week on her debut. She should be a bit wiser this time and can go one better, although the presence of a Mark Johnstojn-trained newcomer in Highly Sprung is a worry.

Paul Midgley has his horses in excellent form and the Westow sprint specialist can win the Lionweld Kennedy Handicap over five furlongs with Irish Girls Spirit.

The six-year-old shaped well on her comeback outing at Newcastle to finish sixth and should be sharper this time on a course where she has run well in the past. Graham Lee has the mount on Irish Girls Spirit, who is well drawn in stall two.

The promising Monasada (3.25) and course and distance winner Goadby (5.20) are two others to note.
