NORTH Yorkshire rider Connor Beasley, working hard to establish himself as a fully-fledged jockey this season after a highly successful apprenticeship, journeys to Wolverhampton this evening aiming to figure on the scoreboard.

Beasley, having done well over the winter, is ticking over nicely and is riding out for a whole host of trainers, including Michael Dods, Tracy Waggott, Brian Ellison and Julie Camacho.

He rides Indian Giver for John Riches in Wolverhampton’s Collect totepool Winnings At Betfred Shops Handicap over seven furlongs.

The seven-year-old has finished runner-up in her last two starts, here and at Musselburgh, and looks in particularly good heart at the moment.

She can go one better here and provide Beasley with his 14th winner of the campaign.

Wickhambrook looks sure to go well for Shane Kelly in the Like totepool On Facebook Handicap.

Mike Murphy’s four-year-old shaped well on his return to action on this course a month to finish a close up third to Gold Club.

He should be all the better for that outing and makes appeal to come good here. He is awarded the nap vote.

All eyes will be on Haines in the opening AJA Gentleman Amateur Riders’ Handicap.

Andrew Balding has placed this four-year-old impeccably to win his last four races.

Moreover, his latest success, at Southwell last week, was achieved in an apprentices’ race which means Haines escapes a penalty in this event.

He promises to be hard to beat.

Bowberry has been raised 11lb for her recent course success, which is hardly surprising considering she crossed the line with eight lengths to spare.

Clive Cox’s filly still has plenty going for her off her revised mark in the Follow @totepool On Twitter Handicap. Luke Morris has the mount.

Also worth noting on the Tapeta track are Fit The Bill (6.25), a narrowly beaten favourite here a fortnight ago, and recent Lingfield winner Red Flute (8.05).

At Kempton, former Malton-based jockey Freddie Tylicki has good prospects of a winner on aboard Celestial Knight.

Trained by James Fanshawe, Celestial Knight won two of his last three starts last season, both wins gained on this course, which clearly suits him well.

Whether he will be tuned up for his seasonal debut is open to question, but provided he is, Celestial Knight promises to go well in the Sika Liquid Plastics Ultra Handicap.

Pretty Bubbles goes for the Tor Coating’s Liquid Waterproofing Fillies’ Handicap over seven furlongs.

John Jenkins’ mare was a winner on this course in January and has run two decent races since in defeat.

She ought to go well in the hands of Tony Hamilton, who rode two winners at Pontefract yesterday.

Roger Charlton introduces Bold in the Complete Sika Sarnafil Maiden Stakes and this promising three-year-old should be involved in the shake up.

Jimmy Fortune’s mount showed a useful level of ability in her two starts on turf last season. Provided he adapts well to this Polytrack surface, he has winning claims.

Recent winner Ask The Guru (2.20) and Bowsers Bold (4.55), a good second here last time, are two others to keep on the shortlist.

Kempton today: 2.20 Ask The Guru, 2.50 Bold, 3.20 My Mo, 3.55 Celestial Knight, 4.25 Pretty Bubbles, 4.55 Bowsers Bold, 5.25 Chevallier.

Wolverhampton today: 5.55 Haines, 6.25 Fit The Bill, 7.00 Bowberry, 7.35 Graceland, 8.05 Red Flute, 8.35 Wickhambrook (NAP), 9.05 Indian Giver.

Today’s other meetings: Brighton, Exeter and Ludlow.
