NORTH Yorkshire apprentices Shane Gray and Kevin Stott, both of whom work for Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan, can make a successful visit to Wolverhampton today.

Gray teams up with Mukaynis for his boss in the opening race, while Stott will be aboard Godolphin’s course specialist Dream Child in the feature race on the card.

Mukaynis was a ready winner at this track on his latest start. He has every chance of following up off a 4lb higher mark in the Unibet Handicap over five furlongs.

Dream Child, who runs in the £19,000 32Red Fillies’ Handicap, has won four times at this venue. Her latest success was achieved over a mile and a half, but she seems equally effective on the extended nine furlongs she faces this afternoon.

Despite climbing up the weights, she will be a tough nut to crack, especially with Stott’s 3lb claim coming in handy to reduce her burden.

Malton trainer Richard Fahey has good prospects of enjoying a productive afternoon.

Doubly represented in the Unibet Maiden Stakes, and with marginal preference for the more experienced Tarleton over Van Wilder, Fahey can also score with Gabrial The Thug, likewise the mount of Tony Hamilton.

Winner of his last two races on this course, Gabrial The Thug has been raised only 6lb for his brace of successes and still figures on a competitive mark.

Fahey and Hamilton should also have a say in the outcome of the Coral Casino Handicap with recent winner Gabrial The Terror, but the nap vote goes to Greeleys Love, trained by Luke Dace and the mount of talented up-and-coming apprentice Tom Marquand.

A creditable runner-up at this track at the end of last month, Greeleys Love is fancied to go one better with Marquand’s 7lb claim looking particularly attractive.

Also worth noting at Dunstall Park are the Bryan Smart-trained Captain Future (3.30), bidding to step up on a couple of near misses, and the promising Antiquarium (5.30), the mount of Adam Kirby.

At Ayr, where conditions are likely to be testing, all eyes will be on the classy Duke Of Navan as he returns to action in the BetVictor.com Novices’ Chase.

A smart hurdler last season, Nicky Richards’ gelding made a winning debut over fences at Carlisle in the autumn, but took a heavy fall at the final fence when upped in class at Cheltenham in November.

He has been given plenty of time to recover from that experience and this three-runner affair looks a suitable opportunity for him to get his chasing career back on track.

Brian Harding again has the mount.

Lucinda Russell has her horses in good form and the Tayside trainer can take the opening honours with Spoils Of War in the Download The BetVictor App Maiden Hurdle.

This former point-to-pointer shaped well to finish second in a bumper on his Rules debut on this course last month.

He is expected to do better over obstacles. Peter Buchanan rides.

Also worth noting in Scotland are the evergreen Everaard (3.20), who ran a respectable race at Catterick recently, and Bobs Lady Tamure (4.20), who has been raised only 4lb for a decisive Wetherby win three weeks ago.

Ayr today: 2.20 Spoils Of War, 2.50 Duke Of Navan, 3.20 Everaard, 3.50 Kilkenny Kim, 4.20 Bobs Lady Tamure, 4.50 Silverton.

Wolverhampton today: 3.00 Mukaynis, 3.30 Captain Future, 4.00 Tarleton, 4.30 Greeleys Love (NAP), 5.00 Dream Child, 5.30 Antiquarium, 6.00 Gabrial The Thug.

Today’s other meeting: Plumpton.
