MALTON jockey Tony Hamilton, with seven winners under his belt since the turn of the year, can continue his fine run at Wolverhampton this afternoon by completing a treble.

Summerinthecity and recent winner Gabrial The Thug, both trained by Hamilton’s main supporter, Richard Fahey, have good prospects, as does Trimoulet, who is set to carry top weight in the coral.co.uk Handicap.

Trained by Daniel Kubler, the six-year-old came good for Hamilton at Chelmsford last week when beating Brave Decision by two lengths. That was only his second all-weather outing and the fourth run of his career.

There could well be plenty more improvement to come from Trimoulet, who has been raised 5lb for his latest success. He is napped to follow up.

Gabrial The Thug runs in the Ladbrokes Handicap over an extended mile. A winner over the same course and distance last month when he beat Sarlat by half a length, the Malton gelding may be able to overcome a 3lb rise.

Hamilton and Fahey aim to get the card off to a winning start with Summerinthecity in the Daily Enhanced ‘Magic Multiples’ At Unibet Handicap.

The eight-year-old has run creditably on his last two outings, finishing fourth on this course over seven furlongs and sixth at Kempton over six furlongs.

Summerinthecity now drops back to the minimum trip and, although he’s never won previously at this distance, he is worth chancing with his trainer - and indeed his jockey - in such good form.

Also worthy of attention at Wolverhampton are Telegraph (2.55), a close-up third here last week, and Celestine Abbey (4.35), a winner on this course last November, who now looks well enough weighted to return to the glory trail for trainer John Ryan.

Whatever Richard Fahey’s fate at Wolverhampton, he also has a couple of further chances at Chelmsford’s evening meeting, not least with Patrick in the totepool We Love Winners Handicap.

Unraced last season as a juvenile, Patrick made a winning debut at Lingfield last month when beating Twin Turbo by three-quarters of a length.

This is a tougher race, but Patrick should have learned plenty from his first outing and he does not badly treated with an opening mark of 72. With Paddy Mathers in the saddle, he could go well.

The £12,500 totetrifecta Pick The 1-2-3 Handicap looks a tightly-knit affair, but Norton jockey Tom Eaves has good prospects aboard Royal Bajan, who is something of an all-weather specialist having won ten of his 42 races on an artificial surface.

His latest effort when a length-and-a-half second to Perfect Pasture at Southwell was a solid performance and he has every chance of going one better for trainer James Given.

Breakheart is narrowly preferred in the totepool Supporting The Sport You Love Handicap.

Trained by Andrew Balding, the eight-year-old finished a good second to Lunar Deity over a mile at Lingfield last time out.

This step back up to a mile and a quarter should suit him better and he can have the edge over Barye, Bobby Benton and Miss Buckshot, all of whom similarly occupied the runner-up position on their latest outings.

David O’Meara’s Milly’s Secret is also worth monitoring at Chelmsford. The four-year-old has run a couple of creditable races on her last two visits to Wolverhampton. Stable apprentice Josh Doyle, who knows her well, claims a valuable 5lb off her back in the Book Restaurants At chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Apprentice Handicap.
