EIUM MAC, who lost his maiden tag at Southwell on New Year’s Day, can notch his second course success of 2015 when returning to the Fibresand circuit this afternoon.

Trained at Norton by Neville Bycroft, the slow-maturing six-year-old achieved next to nothing in 11 races on turf. But he has finally found his niche on a synthetic surface.

His opening win has since been followed by a slender Southwell defeat by General Tufto, who had finished second to Eium Mac on their previous meeting.

The pair meet for a third successive week today and, with General Tufto having picked up a 6lb penalty for his latest win, Eium Mac should be able to reverse the placings on these revised terms.

Raul De Silva, who has struck up a good association with the North Yorkshire gelding, again takes the ride. It promises to pay dividends in the Download The Ladbrokes App Handicap over a mile.

Marjorie Fife has her horses in good form and the Stillington trainer has a fighting chance of clinching the opening honours with Pat’s Legacy in the Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap.

Although he’s now a nine-year- old, Pat’s Legacy is still capable of holding his own in these type of races, as he showed when finishing second to Major Rowan on this course a month ago.

That was his first outing since October and he should have benefited as a result.

All of Pat’s Legacy’s wins have been over a mile, but he’s run well in defeat over today’s distance of seven furlongs and does not look at all badly handicapped. Robert Winston has the mount.

Richard Fahey, who gained his first win of 2015 when Patrick scored at Lingfield on Saturday, has a live chance of doubling his tally with Never Easy in the 32Red.com Handicap.

The three-year-old was slightly disappointing over six furlongs here last time out, but he had previously shaped well over this afternoon’s trip of seven furlongs when second to Excelling Oscar on this course. He is 5lb better off with that winner today and Fahey has also elected to fit him with a first-time visor.

Tony Hamilton takes over in the saddle.

York trainer Mel Brittain saddles Different Scenario in the Coral App Download From The App Store Handicap.

Duran Fentiman’s mount failed by only a neck to beat Mazij here last week. Provided this race does not come soon for her, she has every chance of going one better from the foot of the weights.

Kevin Ryan saddles an interesting runner in Bacall in the 32Red Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Although she finished well down the field on her only start as a juvenile, at Thirsk last spring, Bacall did come in for support and did show promise for a large part of that race.

She has been away from the track since, but her Hambleton trainer must think she is ready to roll again now. This is not a great contest and it would be no surprise to see her take a hand under Barry McHugh.

Today’s only other meeting following the abandonment of waterlogged Ffos Las is at Fakenham where Newmarket trainer Lucy Wadham could be worth following.

She runs A Boy Named Suzi in the Raynham Novices’ Hurdle and the seven-year-old should be a tough nut to crack.

A Boy Named Suzi got the better of The Grey Taylor, a well- regarded dual-winner trained by Brian Ellison, by a short head at Wetherby last month. He was in receipt of 9lb that day and now has to carry a penalty, but he looks a progressive horse and is sure to go well.

Wadham can also lift the Toftrees Handicap Hurdle with Rendezvous Peak , also the mount of Leighton Aspell.

A lightly-raced six-year-old, Rendezvous Peak opened his hurdling account on his fifth start at Huntingdon five weeks ago. A 6lb rise for that success does not look prohibitive and a follow-up is likely.

Tony McCoy teams up with John Ferguson in the opening Sculthorpe Maiden Hurdle in which they will be represented by Zip Top.

A high-class horse on the Flat, and talented enough to chase home Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster as a juvenile. Zip Top finished fourth on his hurdling debut at Kempton on Boxing Day. Although he was beaten a long way, that race will not have been wasted on him after a long absence from the course.

Southwell today: 1.15 Pat’s Legacy, 1.45 Eium Mac (NAP), 2.15 Never Easy, 2.50 Ba - call, 3.25 Guishan, 4.00 Different Scenario.

Fakenham today: 1.05 Zip Top, 1.35 A Boy Named Suzi, 2.05 Rendezvous Peak, 2.40 Mount Vesuvius, 3.15 Drombeg West, 3.50 Master Rajeem.

Today’s other meeting at Ffos Las is abandoned due to a waterlogged track.
