PAUL HANAGAN, who has enjoyed a remarkable season, heads to Redcar this afternoon for a whole host of fancied mounts.

The former Malton-based jockey, pictured, will be disappointed if he returns home to Newmarket empty-handed, not least on behalf of his old boss Richard Fahey, who could well supply him with three winners.

Brooke's Bounty, who drops into selling company for only the second time in his career, can get Hanagan and Fahey off to a good start, while Docs Legacy, a creditable runner-up in his last two races, is fancied to go one better for the pair in the Racing UK Tipster Pundit Competition Handicap.

Ironically, Fahey also saddles one of the dangers to Docs Legacy in Hi There, who ran a fine race to finish a close-up third on his favourite soft ground at Newbury last time. He has conditions in his favour again and is likely to make Docs Legacy pull out all the stops under Barry McHugh.

Gabrial The Thug has found winning difficult this season, but the four-year-old has his best opportunity for a long time in the Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Claiming Stakes. He can contribute to the Hangan-Fahey scoresheet.

With three Group 1 wins to his credit this season and prize money earnings of well over £3 million - his highest-ever - Hanagan has had a memorable 2014. He has good prospects of another winner on the Redcar card aboard Ershaadaal in the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden Stakes.

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, the juvenile showed definite signs of promise on his debut three weeks ago when runner-up at Kempton. This well-bred son of Cape Cross now needs to transfer his ability to turf, but he clearly commands the utmost respect.

Also worth noting at Redcar's final meeting of the season are Tim Easterby's in-form Breakable (2.00), the mount of Duran Fentiman, and the consistent Armelle (4.00), a course and distance winner and the mount of Louis Steward, rider of this year's Ebor Handicap winner Mutual Regard.

The feature of Exeter's jumps card is the Vix Technology Haldon Gold Cup Chase, which sees the reappearance of Cue Card.

Colin Tizzard's top-notch performer finished second in this Grade 2 contest last year to Somersby, who takes him on again with Brian Hughes in the saddle.

Daryl Jacob has the mount on Cue Card for the first time. Winner of last season's Betfair Chase before running a blinder in the King George VI Chase at Kempton, the eight-year-old is fancied to start his campaign on a winning note this time.

Tizzard runs the promising Kingscourt Native in the opening Bathwick Tyres Bideford Novices' Hurdle, but the six-year-old may have to give best to Vago Collonges, trained by Paul Nicholls.

Although it is some time since this five-year-old saw a racecourse, after missing the whole of last season, he was previously a useful bumper horse, winning two of his four outings and finishing second in Grade 2 company at Aintree's Grand National meeting. He has the right credentials to develop into a smart horse over jumps.

The in-form Phillip Hobbs is fancied to complete an Exeter double with Hello George and Georgie Lad.

The Bathwick Tyres Plymouth Novices' Hurdle is the target for Hello George, who made a winning start to the campaign on this course a fortnight ago. He looks a decent horse in the making and a 6lb penalty may not prove his undoing as he bids to follow up under Richard Johnson.

Hobbs and Johnson can also claim the Racing 4 Rewards Handicap Hurdle with nap selection Georgie Lad.

The six-year-old ran a respectable race on his latest outing at Ludlow when finishing runner-up four weeks ago. He is selected to go one better as he steps up in distance.

Smart hurdler Carole's Destrier (2.45), now building a career over fences, and Bobcatbilly (3.15), expected to be all the better for his Kempton comeback outing, are also worthy of a second look.
