LADIES ARE FOREVER, who has reserved most of her best performances for York, makes the short journey to her favourite venue tomorrow on The Press Family Raceday to contest the feature race and bid to take her prize money earnings past £360,000.

Owned and bred by Reg Bond, Ladies Are Forever is trained at Brawby near Malton by Geoff Oldroyd, who has placed her to win eight of her 32 races, most notably a triple-strike in the Group 3 Summer Stakes on this course.

Fast ground and a flat course like Knavesmire suit Ladies Are Forever, who will have the services of Barry McHugh, who rode her to her very first career win, in the saddle. She is nearing the end of her racing days before she goes off to the paddocks and to land the Betfred Garrowby Stakes would add a further notch to her achievements.

Punters are fancied to get off to a good start courtesy of Supreme Occasion in the Judith Marshall Memorial Nursery.

David O’Meara’s filly has made a good start to her career. She got up in the shadow of the post to score on her debut at Thirsk and followed up in handicap company at Newcastle. There is probably plenty more in the tank and Supreme Occasion is selected to complete a hat-trick here in a race in which John Quinn’s Moonlightnavigator threatens to be a prime danger.

Tim Easterby has a high regard for Ribblehead, who made a winning debut at Redcar in mid-summer and who has since run well on his handicap bow to finish third at Doncaster. The three-year-old looks sure to be in the mix in the Barkers Garage Handicap.

North Yorkshire owner Irvine Lynch has still to greet his namesake Dr Irv into the winners’ enclosure this season, but the stayer gets another bite at the cherry in the Castles UK Educational And Residential Furniture Handicap over an extended two miles.

Megan Carberry, who rode the gelding for the first time at Thirsk last week and got a great tune out of him to finish fourth in a tight finish, again has the mount. Dr Irv is overdue a winning turn.

The Minster Alarms Irish Champions Weekend Maiden Stakes looks to be a good opportunity for Beau Eile after a near-miss at Beverley on his debut just over three weeks ago.

David Barron’s youngster is napped to open his winning account.

Fast Track may prove the answer to the Hanson Springs Handicap over six furlongs.

Like Beau Eile, he is trained at Maunby near Thirsk by Barron.

The seven-race card comes to a close with the Coopers Marquees Apprentice Handicap over a mile and a half.

Brian Ellison won this race last year with Montefeltro and the Norton trainer may do so again, though he sets punters a quandary by saddling two fancied runners in Streets Of Newyork and Zeus Magic. Opinions will be divided between the pair, but marginal preference is for Streets Of Newyork, the mount of Megan Carberry.
