Geordie George, an impressive winner at Ripon on his debut, but beaten into second at Newcastle on his subsequent outing, can resume winning ways at Doncaster this evening on what is a free night's racing for local residents.

Anyone with the Doncaster postcode could apply for free tickets for tonight's meeting and the chance to see horses like Geordie George strut his stuff against three previous winners in the 188Bet Novice Stakes.

Trained at Norton by John Quinn, the speedy colt gained a decisive victory at Ripon and although he tasted defeat next time, he was beaten by a smart rival in Aktabantay, who has since finished second in Group 2 company at Newmarket.

Geordie George can bounce back to the top here with promising apprentice Josh Doyle claiming a valuable 7lb allowance.

Hughie Morrison, trainer of Aktabantay, saddles New Providence in the D C Training And Development Services Ltd Fillies Nursery and Ryan Moore's mount is fancied to take plenty of beating.

The juvenile made a winning start to her career at Lingfield and although she won only narrowly, she did well after running green and also meeting trouble in running. New Providence is open to any amount of improvement and is expected to be hard to beat.

Paul Hanagan will be looking for a bold bid from Lashkaal in the All New AYgos @ Burrows Toyota Maiden Fillies Stakes over seven furlongs.

The two-year-old was sent off favourite on her debut at Newmarket, but ran green and could never land a blow over six furlongs. That experience and this extra furlong should combine to enable Lashkaal to run much better this evening on behalf of trainer John Gosden.

King Torus, winner of both his races this season for Stillington trainer Ruth Carr, should not be overlooked in his hat-trick bid in the Terry Bellas Memorial Classified Stakes, while Kevin Ryan's Derbyshire looks a horse on the upgrade and he can show it under Jamie Spencer in the 188Bet Handicap.

At Hamilton's afternoon meeting, Champagne Rules may prove the answer to the totepool Home of Pool Betting Handicap.

Trained near Richmond by Sharon Watt, the three-year-old won at Pontefract earlier in the season and his latest effort saw him finish second to a useful rival at Leicester, clear of the remainder. Champagne Rules looks very much like a work in progress, but there is more to come from him and he is fancied to show today.

The £10,000 Injured Jockeys' Fund 50th Anniversary Handicap could well fall to O Ma Lad, a former winner over the same course and distance.

John Quinn is bringing the six-year-old back from a two months break. Although slightly disappointing when last seen at York in May, O Ma Lad had previously finished a creditable second to Sirvino on this course. If he can reproduce that level of form, he will go close this afternoon under Phil Makin.

Craigemdar is napped to get Hamilton punters off to a good start in the Irish Champions Weekend Maiden Stakes.

The juvenile, trained near Thirsk by David Barron, showed distinct promise when third at Warwick on her debut, only weakening late in the day. She can be expected to last longer this time. Graham Gibbons has the mount.

Barron can also win the ROA Owners Jackpot Claiming Stakes with Waffle, who is steeply dropped in class, while Her Red Devil is selected to win the Racing UK On Sky432 Handicap after finishing second to Indian Giver on this course a couple of weeks ago. The three-year-old is trained by Richard Fahey for Dr Marwan Koukash and will be ridden by George Chaloner, the triumvirate responsible for Angel Gabrial, recent winner of the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.
