Paul Hanagan, who will soon be preparing for a winter stint in Dubai, can play a starring role at Wolverhampton this afternoon.

The former Malton jockey, now based in Newmarket, has ridden more than 100 winners for a seventh time in his career this year.

He can add to his tally aboard nap selection Enfijaar and Personal Touch on the Polytrack circuit.

Owned by his boss, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by William Haggas who, for the first time, has had a century of winners this season, Enfijaar runs in the 32Red.com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

She has finished third, including at Kempton last time out, on both her outings to date and has shown enough ability to think that a maiden race can come her way.

Opportunity is fancied to come knocking for her at the third time of asking.

Winterwell, an interesting overseas recruit to David O’Meara’s yard, may give her most to do.

Personal Touch, trained by Musley Bank’s Richard Fahey, Hanagan’s old boss, has yet to experience an all-weather surface, so it is anybody’s guess just how he will cope with the switch from turf.

He has, however, been running creditably in the main, finishing fifth at Newmarket at the beginning of the month after being narrowly beaten at Catterick on his penultimate outing. He should go well if he adapts to the surface.

The step up to two miles is expected to suit Alpine Mysteries as she bids to resume winning ways in the 32Red Handicap.

A fluent winner on this course last month, the Harry Dunlop-trained filly has since twice run well in defeat here. Those three races were over one and three-quarter miles. This extra distance may eke out further improvement from Luke Morris’ mount.

David Evans has been sending out winners left, right and centre lately and the Welsh trainer can add to his tally this afternoon.

Jazzy Lady was on a hat-trick bid here on Saturday evening when she finished third after failing to secure a clear run at a crucial point of proceedings.

She aims for quick compensation in the opening 32Red Casino Nursery to add to her previous wins here and at Kempton.

Over the sticks at Leicester, Norton trainer John Quinn introduces an interesting horse to jumping in Poetic Verse.

A four-time winner on the Flat and rated in the mid-70s, Poetic Verse was previously trained by Rod Millman and looks a fascinating recruit to hurdling.

He stayed a mile and a half and more on the level so has no stamina worries as he switches codes. He is not one to overlook in the hands of Dougie Costello, who rode two winners at Wetherby on Saturday.

Valco de Touzaine created a good impression when getting off the mark over fences at his second attempt at Wetherby a couple of weeks ago.

Paul Nicholls’ four-year-old has the scope to improve a fair bit yet and he should be hard to beat in the John O’Gaunt Novices’ Chase.
