Denis O’Regan, who is booked to team up with North Yorkshire hope Cape Tribulation in next month’s Cheltenham Gold Cup, can figure among the winners at Wetherby today.

O’Regan, based at Newmarket, partners Whispering Gallery for his main trainer John Ferguson and will be hoping to repeat his win on the gelding at Leicester on his hurdling debut.

A useful horse on the Flat previously, Whispering Gallery has the credentials to make further progress at the jumping game. He should give O’Regan a good ride in theconistonhotel.com Novices’ Hurdle.

Coverholder will be a popular choice in the opening Watch Racing UK On Sky 432 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle.

Shrewdly bought out of Tim Vaughan’s yard for only 6,000 guineas after winning a selling hurdle at Catterick, Coverholder has since won both his starts for Sue Smith, at Doncaster and Kelso.

He has been hiked up a long way in the ratings, but he is in such good form it will take a brave man to say he will not win again. Jonathan England again has the mount.

The £10,000 Ladies Evening-30th May Handicap Hurdle is the feature race on the card and Good Order may prove the solution for Tom George.

Paddy Brennan’s mount finished a creditable runner-up on his comeback outing six weeks ago. He should strip fitter and sharper this time.

At Lingfield tomorrow, the nap vote is awarded to Groove On in the Lingfield Park Owners Group Handicap.

Trained by Marco Botti, the lightly-raced three-year-old made a good start to his season when winning comfortably at Wolverhampton six weeks ago.

The Newmarket colt had nearly two lengths to spare over Windpower that day and left the impression that there was a fair bit more to come from him. This looks a pretty competitive handicap, but Groove On is a progressive sprinter and is taken to prevail again.

Kamchatcka is an interesting runner in the bluesq.com Claiming Stakes.

Previously trained in North Yorkshire by Alan Swinbank, who won a maiden race with him last summer, the three-year-old is now with new trainer Philip Hide and is dropped in class into claming company. His all-weather debut, provided he acts on the Polytrack, he should excel.

Valdaw (2.30), chasing a hat-trick of victories, and the promising Silver Dixie (4.05) are two others to note.
