Kristin Stubbs, North Yorkshire’s newest recruit to the training ranks, has a great chance of starting her new role with a bang at Wolverhampton tomorrow.

Stubbs, 32, who has taken over the licence from her mother Linda, has her first runner from their Norton stable in Midnight Dream, who is fancied to land the £50 Free Bet At coral.co.uk Handicap over six furlongs.

A course winner, the three-year-old ran a fine race in defeat last time to finish second to the useful Rene Mathis.

It is significant that Stubbs, a former jockey, has booked Graham Lee for the mount on Midnight Dream. It could well be a dream start for the rookie trainer.

Mick Easterby can get proceedings off to a winning start with nap selection Fighter Boy in the coral.co.uk Apprentice Handicap.

The six-year-old was a winner on this course last week under Graham Gibbons. Stable apprentice Matthew Hopkins takes the mount this time and a follow up looks on the cards.

Going Grey should go well in the Free Bets Galore At bookmakers.co.uk Handicap.

The Richard Fahey-trained four-year-old appreciated the step up to this extended nine furlongs when finishing third on this course on his latest start, staying on strongly to be beaten less than a length after being slightly hampered on the home turn. Paddy Mathers has the mount.

Lieutenant Dan (5.35) and Run It Twice (6.05), both course winners last time out, look capable of making bold bids to complete quick doubles.

Today’s Carlisle meeting rests on an 8am course inspection, but Tony McCoy will be hoping the meeting gets the go-ahead.

The champion jockey was left devastated at Doncaster on Monday by the fatal fall of Darlan, one of the stars of the hurdling stage.

Yesterday McCoy was riding at Market Rasen, where he drew a blank, but he has good prospects of figuring among the winners in Cumbria.

He rides Shutthefrontdoor in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) and Jonjo O’Neill’s six-year-old is chasing a hat-trick after wins at Uttoxeter and Wincanton. He should go well.

Vulcanite, winner of two of his three races this season, can be another winner for McCoy in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Novices’ Chase.

Also worth watching are the classy Eduard, who should have too much firepower for his rivals in the Exhibitions At Carlisle Racecourse Novices’ Hurdle, while last month’s Kelso winner Saddle Pack has every chance of following up in the Ultimate Ladies Night on 5th August Handicap.
