Veteran North Yorkshire gelding Webbow, runner-up on his final three starts of 2012, returns to action for the first time this year at Lingfield tomorrow and has every chance of starting 2013 with a bang.

Trained at Norton by Julie Camacho, the 11-year-old lines up in the featured £19,000 lingfieldpark.co.uk Handicap with Jim Crowley in the saddle.

Webbow was beaten only half a length by Grey Mirage on this course last month, a narrow defeat which came hot on the heels of a brace of similarly creditable second-placed efforts at Kempton.

There can be little doubt that Webbow is deserving of a win, or that he is in excellent heart in the autumn of his career. Fingers are firmly crossed that this grand old campaigner will find opportunity knocking tomorrow.

On a day when the chances of any jumps action in Britain look extremely slim, owing to the wintry weather, Thirsk trainer has identified at Lingfield a target for his recent Wolverhampton winner Profile Star.

Graham Gibbons’ mount showed a good attitude to make all the running and hold on in a photo-finish last time. He has been raised 5lb for that success and promises to be competitive once again in the View Our 2013 Fixtures At lingfieldpark.co.uk Handicap.

Barron and Gibbons can also take the six-furlong seller with La Sylphe, who comes out favourably at the weights in this non-handicap.

The nap vote is awarded to Al Khan in the latest qualifier for the Blue Square Bet Sprint Series Handicap.

Claimed out of Mick Easterby’s Sheriff Hutton yard after finishing fourth over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton last month, Al Khan, a useful horse as a juvenile, is now trained by Violet Jordan, who ran him over five furlongs on her first outing for her, in which he finished fourth.

Tomorrow’s six furlongs should be more up his street and he is napped to capitalise on a handy rating, which is some 20lb shy of where he was as a two-year-old.

At Kempton, Light From Mars may prove the answer to the William Hill-IPad App Now Available Handicap.

The eight-year-old has been in good form lately and ran a cracker to finish second to Atlantis Star at Wolverhampton earlier in the week, travelling strongly throughout and only being outpaced by the superior winner late on. He has every chance of going one better.

Derek Shaw is enjoying a decent run at present and the trainer brings Climaxfortackle out quickly for the William Hill Fillies’ Handicap.

Runner-up on both her starts since the turn of the year, including at Wolverhampton on Tuesday, Climaxfortackle is fancied to make it third time lucky.

Course winner Noble Silk (2.55) and the promising Gertrude Versed (4.05) are two others to note at Kempton on a day when all-weather Flat action promises to keep the racing wheels turning.
