Dale Swift, who made racing headlines when winning the Ebor Handicap on Moyenne Corniche at York in 2011, continues to boot home winners and the North Yorkshire-based jockey can make his long journey to Lingfield worthwhile tomorrow.

Swift has already rattled up a couple of winners since the turn of the year and one of those was achieved on Kung Hei Fat Choy on whom he scored at Wolverhampton last week.

There was an air of cosiness about that success from the James Given-trained gelding, who was also a winner on this course last month.

Kung Hei Fat Choy lines up under a 6lb penalty in the Blue Square Bet Handicap and is fancied to provide Swift with another winner.

York-based Robert Winston also makes the journey to Lingfield and is expected to figure among the winners before switching to Kempton’s twilight fixture which also promises to treat him kindly.

Winston rides Red Valerian in Lingfield’s Surrey Maiden Stakes and will not be without his share of supporters.

The Charles Hills-trained three-year-old shaped like a certain future winner on his second and latest start at Kempton in November when he was beaten only half a length into second by Tartary. He should be even better equipped this time and is selected to go one better.

Winston’s best winning chance at Kempton looks to be aboard Island Legend in the Back Or Lay At betdaq.com Handicap.

The sprinter, trained by veteran speed specialist Milton Bradley, got home by a neck from Moorhouse Lad over this course and disance three weeks ago. A 4lb higher mark may not be beyond him tomorrow.

Whitby Jet is another horse who returns to Kempton to bid for a quick course double.

Ed Vaughan’s five-year-old came from a long way off the pace to prevail in a photo-finish here last month. He has been raised only 2lb for that victory and with William Carson again on board, he should once again be competitive.

Two In The Pink (5.40), who has shown promise in her two starts to date, and Captain Kendall (6.10), who hails from the red-hot David Evans yard, are two others to note.

Back at Lingfield, Bill Turner saddles Six Of Clubs (1.00) in the staying handicap and this ultra-consistent gelding has strong claims.

Six Of Clubs gained his latest success at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and although he got home by only the skin of his teeth, Turner felt that he idled after he got to the front earlier than ideal. Luke Morris will be delaying his final effort as late as possible tomorrow.

John Gosden, whose powerful stable is ticking over quietly during the winter months, can win the Forest Row Handicap with nap selection Derwentwater, the mount of Nicky Mackay.

A slow-maturing horse, Derwentwater is a long way from being one of Gosden’s star performers, but he ran well on this course last time to be beaten only half a length after failing to enjoy the run of the race. He deserves to get his head in front this time.

Also worth monitoring are Fairy Mist (1.30), who looks to be returning to form and recent course winner Novabridge (3.45), who is selected to confirm his superiority over last week’s runner-up Charming.

• Tomorrow’s Doncaster meeting will be previewed in tomorrow’s paper.
