North Yorkshire jockey Joe Fanning, finishing a record-breaking year in style, makes the long journey to Lingfield tomorrow with excellent prospects of adding another brace of winners to his overloaded scoresheet before taking in Wolverhampton’s twilight fixture, where he has another winning opportunity.

Middleham-based Fanning has ridden a remararkable 186 winners in 2012 and has contested more than 1,100 races. He has easily eclipsed his previous-best total, which was 120 winners in 2010.

Fanning, who rides for Mark Johnston, but who adopts a ‘have-saddle-will-travel’ policy all-year-round, can hit the target tomorrow aboard nap selection Bladewood Girl and Special Meaning.

The latter, trained by Johnston, was sent off favourite for his debut on this course a fortnight ago, but her backers came unstuck as she was beaten three-quarters of a length into third place by Streak after showing signs of greenness.

Special Meaning should have learned plenty from that initial experience and is fancied to step up to the number one slot in the second division of the Follow Us On Twitter @LingfieldPark Fillies’ Maiden Stakes.

Fanning also has good prospects of winning the opening Play Golf At Lingfield Park Handicap on Bladewood Girl.

Trained by John Jenkins and a previous course and distance winner, Bladewood Girl looked a rather unlucky loser on her latest start, failing by only a length after failing to secure a clear run at Kempton. With the red-hot Fanning on board, she can gain compensation.

In the Find Us On Facebook Lingfield Park Nursery, Seaside Rock is taken to follow up a recent Kempton victory.

The Richard Hannon-trained juvenile has a 6lb penalty to overcome, but his latest success was gained in cosy fashion and there looks to be more to come from him.

Also worth noting at the Surrey track are Andrew Balding’s Debdebdeb (11.55), who shaped well on her debut here a couple of weeks ago, and Gabrial’s Hope (3.20), a decent second at Wolverhampton last week.

Shropshire trainer James Unett may only have a small string, but his horses are in good heart and he has an excellent chance of completing a Wolverhampton tomorrow evening double with Monumental Man (4.20) and Big Sylv (5.50).

Monumental Man won with plenty to spare at Lingfield recently and, provided he can reproduce that effort on this course, he has every chance of defying a 6lb penalty in the capable hands of David Probert.

Probert will also be aboard Big Sylv, just as he was when the filly scored at this venue last Friday. That victory was hardly coming out of turn, after a series of creditable and sometimes luckless efforts. Clearly in form, the three-year-old can also shrug off a 6lb penalty.

Whatever Fanning and Johnston’s fate at Lingfield with Special Meaning, they have another winning chance here with Staffhoss (5.20), who makes his handicap debut.

The son of Lucky Story broke his maiden at his second attempt at Lingfield a fortnight ago with a workmanlike half length success. He has been handed a rating of 78, which may not be lenient, but which does look fair. He should go well.

Recent course winner Alezanna (6.20), into handicap company off a lenient mark after her maiden success, and the consistent Resplendent Alpha (6.50) are two others to consider.
