A PUNISHING schedule of three games in five days proved too much for Huntington Rovers as they came unstuck on Wednesday night following a 3-0 loss to F1 Racing.

Rovers, who followed Saturday’s 3-3 York & District Minster Engineering League premier division draw against the same opposition with a 1-0 win over Church Fenton courtesy of a Jon James’ goal, showed signs of tired legs as the minutes began to take their toll.

F1 showed no mercy, though, with clinical finishing from Alex Martin, Chris Dempsey and Jason McCloud hitting the goals that propelled their side up to fourth in the table.

The battle to avoid the drop from the top-flight is hotting up, with six teams now separated by just seven points.

Sporting Knavesmire enhanced their chances of staying up with a last-minute win at Dunnington, as Ben Lock scored from the last kick of the game.

Gareth Innes had earlier levelled for Knavesmire after the hosts had taken an early lead.

Ben Jones’ goal cancelled out a Ryan Ferguson effort as Copmanthorpe and Tadcaster Magnets went in level at half-time.

Magnets’ Will Deakin provided his team with a lifeline, however, after grabbing a late winner that plunged Copmanthorpe into despair.

The 2-1 loss leaves Cop just two points ahead of Knavesmire and Malton & Norton.

Wigginton Grasshoppers increased their lead at the top to 14 points with a 4-0 win over Hemingbrough United.

Jordan Holt headed home a Gary Newton corner after six minutes, before being set up by the same player for a second just after half-time.

The third was claimed by Kain Rogerson after he rode two challenges to steer the ball home on the hour mark, before Neale Holmes completed the scoring from the penalty spot five minutes later.

James Green and Liam Robertson found the net for Dringhouses and gave them a two-goal cushion against Osbaldwick, only for Dan Davison to bag a brace to level the scores.

But Houses were not to be denied, as Robertson struck in the dying seconds to seal a 3-2 win for the visitors.

A fiery Division One game between Easingwold Town and Pocklington Town saw three red cards as Pock ended up with an extra man and all three points.

Carl Brewer and Nathan Walker were on the scoresheet with a defensive error leading to the final goal in a 3-0 success for the away side.

Poppleton United secured promotion back to Reserve A with a 2-1 victory over Bishopthorpe United.

Shane Milne and Nial Kirby struck to gain the hosts the three points that they needed.

Harrison Signs gave themselves a glimmer of hope of staying up after Charlie Cook (2), Jason Hogg and Jacob Green netted in a 4-1 win. Evan Surgenor replied.

Tockwith overcame Tadcaster Magnets 3-1 with Ryan Sledge, Adam Stobert and Ed Greaves the marksmen. Oliver Heaton hit the target for Magnets’ consolation.

Braces for Anthony Vincent and Will Cardy saw Stamford Bridge see off Wheldrake 4-0 in Reserve C.
