TADCASTER Albion face a “must-win” game tomorrow at home to Radcliffe Borough in the Evo-Stik League north.

The ninth-placed Brewers are hoping for a slice of luck in their play-off push after enduring two 0-0 draws last week, at home to high-fliers Scarborough Athletic on Thursday and away at fellow play-off hopefuls Colne on Saturday.

Radcliffe were 20th in the division ahead of last night’s visit of Trafford. Winless in three games, they also shipped eight goals in back-to-back defeats to Scarborough Athletic.

With the two sides directly above Taddy, Colne and Colwyn Bay, facing tough visits to Bamber Bridge and South Shields respectively, the Brewers could leapfrog the pair of them, should all the weekend’s results go their way.

Club spokesman Jay Taylor said: “It’s a must-win game, simple as that.

“The two draws have been frustrating in some respects, but we’re happy in others. We’ve had a tough run of fixtures but we’ve come away with some good points.

“We’re looking for a few more points which we could have had – against Colne we were playing with 10 men but we were arguably the better team in the second half.

“We’ve got to stay positive. With five games left, we can’t be too down.

“The way the lads dug in showed character and their spirit was phenomenal against Scarborough, who are gunning for that automatic promotion spot, in front of almost 1,000 people.

“Then two days later on a pitch which is sloped, playing with 10 men.

“There are positives that we’re keeping the back door closed but maybe we’re maybe not as clinical in the final third as we need to be.

“No disrespect to Radcliffe, but they’re down there and they’re playing midweek while we have had seven days off.

“Fingers crossed we can pick up the points here going into our final set of fixtures.

“We’ve just come up a few points short in recent weeks so we need other games to go our way. It just takes one good week to put us back in the picture.

“We’ve got to rely on other teams a bit but also make sure we put pressure on them.”

Tom Young is likely to deputise for Michael Ingham, who is away with the academy, and Hull City loanee Ellis Barkworth may start again after impressing against Colne.

Josh Barrett and Jason Mycoe are making a return while Aiden Savory will likely return to a forward role after playing in defence.

Tadcaster are also hopeful Pete Davidson's straight red card from Colne could be overturned.

Scarborough Athletic enjoyed a 3-1 win at Radcliffe on Tuesday night to keep up the pressure on the top two. Boro are just one point behind second-placed Hyde United, level on games played.

Tomorrow, the Seadogs host 21st-placed Brighouse Town who have won two of their last three after failing to take maximum points from their previous seven. Last week they beat Mossley 1-0 at home.

Harrogate Town welcome 14th-placed Southport to the CNG Stadium tomorrow off the back of a 2-0 win at Bootham Crescent against local rivals York City.

Southport’s 1-0 loss at home to Nuneaton Town last Tuesday was the first Sandgrounders game for three months in which fewer than three goals had been scored. Prior to their defeats to York and Alfreton Town, the Port had won four of their previous five games 3-0 and the other 3-1.
