SELBY Town will be looking to reverse their recent poor form tomorrow when they host Campion in Northern Counties East League division one.

The Robins had been perched nicely in the play-off places a month ago, sitting fifth after a 4-0 win at AFC Emley, but two defeats and two draws in the last four games have seen them slide down to ninth.

However, Town still have at least one game in hand over all of the sides above them, and a win tomorrow against 10th-placed Campion could put them back in the mix.

Despite being separated by only one place, there are seven points between Selby and visitors Campion, who have won two of their last three after picking up only two points from their previous four.

In those two wins, they claimed the scalp of high-fliers Grimsby Borough and, on Wednesday night, beat bottom side Brigg Town 3-2.

The night previously, Selby were beaten 3-1 by fourth-placed Yorkshire Amateur.

From the off it was clear that Ammers possessed pace, which posed problems for Selby all evening, while their quick pressing broke up the Robins’ fluency on the ball.

Selby’s full-backs were frequently turned by Ammers’ wide-men and Fernando Moke and Ashley Flynn caused problems in the centre of the park.

At the back, Ryan Gothard and Nick Kennedy were superbly backed up by goalkeeper Paul Hagreen, who made some smart saves to keep Yorkshire Amateurs at bay.

Town were on level terms for only eight minutes, though, before sharp interplay through the middle gave Moke plenty of time and space to find a way past Hagreen.

The visitors did create chances of their own, with Liam Flanagan firing over after beating the keeper and also being denied by a good save, but they went into the break a goal down.

Danny Gray was brought on for Gary Collier after the restart and his presence allowed the Robins to take a more direct route to goal, but not before Flynn increased the hosts’ advantage from a one-on-one.

From their best spell of the game, Selby reduced the deficit through Flanagan with 15 minutes remaining, but as they pressed for an equaliser, Flynn struck on the break to bury the game.

Last night, Selby were at home to Shirebrook Town in the third round of the League Cup.

Leaders Knaresborough Town are at home tomorrow to sixth-placed Hallam who have won six games on the bounce, the last being a 4-3 thriller against Winterton Rangers.

Boro extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 17 on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Retford United.

Evo-Stik League north promotion-hopefuls Tadcaster Albion tomorrow host fourth-placed Bamber Bridge at the start of a busy Easter weekend.

Last week, Taddy lost at Prescot Cables on Tuesday before going down 1-0 at home to Hyde United - the latest two defeats from a run of three which have seen the Brewers drop from sixth to 10th in the table.

Next Monday, they face another top side and a North Yorkshire derby when they welcome third-placed Scarborough Athletic to the i2i Stadium.

Boro have also suffered a poor run of results, winning only two of their last six league games after a run of nine consecutive league wins. On Tuesday they beat Droylsden 2-0.

Tomorrow, the Seadogs host 18th-placed Radcliffe Borough.
