TADCASTER Albion dropped to seventh in the Evo-Stik League North as their eight-game unbeaten run was ended by a 1-0 defeat at Trafford.

Former Brewer Danny Frost struck just before the hour to help the Manchester side leapfrog Taddy.

The teams came off the pitch for five minutes shortly after the goal because of the snow storm that came down.

Pete Davidson passed an early fitness test meaning that Albion could name the same starting 11 as the past five matches.

Frost had the first effort of the match, attempting a lob over keeper Michael Ingham that slipped through his hands but was cleared from the six-yard box by Josh Barrett.

The hosts then had the ball in the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside as Frost’s deflected curling shot was turned in by Darius Palma.

Taddy began to gain a foothold in the game with chances falling to Billy Whitehouse, who saw his header crash off the crossbar, and Aiden Savory, whose audacious flick was on target but not strong enough to test Trafford keeper Grant Shenton.

Whitehouse and Casey Stewart continued to look dangerous but could not find enough space to properly threaten the Trafford goal.

The Brewers looked well on top and they carved out their best chance of the half 10 minutes from the break, Savory playing a first-time ball into Chris Howarth for a low drive that was comfortably stopped.

Seconds later, Howarth saw his well-struck 27-yard effort tipped over by the outstretched Shenton.

After the restart, the Brewers continued to look dangerous in the final third but they found themselves behind after 58 minutes.

Keil O’Brien turned a corner just wide while Sean Miller also scuffed off target before Frost broke the deadlock as a hooked ball forward was misjudged by Barrett, allowing the nippy forward to dribble clean through on goal and squeeze a shot underneath Ingham.

Visibility became an issue shortly after as the snowfall became heavier and the sides were taken into the tunnel for five minutes.

On re-emergence, Trafford were looking dangerous on the counter-attack as the Brewers committed men forward and Barrett was called on to clear off the line after Miller had rounded Ingham.

Second-half substitute Conor Sellars came the closest to equalising as his whipped effort from inside the area was deflected onto the roof of the net nine minutes from time.

Trafford could have netted a second right at the death when substitute Aaron Burns was picked out but he was denied from point-blank range by an outstanding save from Ingham.

Tadcaster: Ingham, Sheppeard, Hardy (Sellars 75), Roper, Papprill, Barrett, Howarth (Pugh 75), Davidson, Stewart, Savory, Whitehouse. Unused subs: Mycoe, Langton.
