OLD Malton St Mary's remain on course to defend their North Riding County FA Saturday County Cup after late goals brought quarter-final victory over Nunthorpe Athletic.

There could also be another all-York Minster Engineering League final with F1 Racing already in the last four.

St Mary's tie was drawn to be played at the North Riding League team's ground but a waterlogged pitch there, following on from last week's postponement, saw it switched to Ryedale.

Saints won 2-0 thanks to strikes in the 87th and 90th minutes.

They now go to Thornaby Dubliners in the semi-finals, while F1 Racing host another Teesside League side in Boro Rangers.

Thornaby won 4-1 after extra time at Richmond Buck Inn while Rangers needed penalties to overcome Richmond Town.

Meanwhile, Rufforth United came from two goals down to reach the semi-finals of the York FA Saturday Junior Cup with a 3-2 win at Tockwith Reserves - courtesy of the last-minute winner.

Pocklington Town 3rds edged a close encounter at Malt Shovel 1-0, Dan Boneham getting the only goal. Shovel piled on the pressure, missing a penalty and several other good chances.

Civil Service won 3-1 at a battling Barmby Moor to complete the last-four line-up, with Thorpe United Reserves having already booked their place.
