TADCASTER Albion will tomorrow play host to Colwyn Bay in a potential Evo-Stik League north six-pointer, following the disappointment of a midweek Integro League Cup exit at Cleethorpes Town.

Joe Pugh's second goal in two games and a strike from debutant Jack Reynolds had given the Brewers a two-goal half-time lead, but three goals in the final 20 minutes turned the game on its head and sent the Owls into the third round with a 3-2 win.

Taddy fielded a youthful-looking side, featuring American youngster Reynolds, keeper Tom Young and defender Fraser Hansen - both making their first appearances of the season - alongside Fraser Papprill and Casey Stewart, while Tom Gore featured on the bench for the first time in two years.

Although not the result they were after, the performance from the relatively inexperienced side was promising, with manager Michael Morton tweeting: “Not ideal getting beat from 2-0 up but a great experience for our young guns against a very strong Cleethorpes side tonight.”

Shot-stopper Young was called into action early on, having to react well to tip over a dipping volley that came through a crowd of bodies.

The opening goal was created by Hansen – who impressed at left-back – whipping a ball in for Pugh to finish on the stretch.

With three minutes to go before the break, Albion’s young guns capped off a good first-half display when Stewart cleverly played Reynolds through, who calmly flicked past the oncoming keeper.

The real test came in the second period, however, as the hosts came out strongly looking to make an immediate impact.

And they came close in the opening minutes, with Marc Cooper having a strike deflected just over, before Luke Aldrich drove inches wide.

The hosts finally received their reward for their pressure in the 78th minute, when a quick free kick caught Tad off-guard and the ball was squared for Brody Robertson to tap in.

With two minutes of the 90 to play, an unmarked Liam Davis drove the ball in from the right-hand side of the area and Oliver Donald turned in to wipe out Albion’s lead.

The game looked to be heading for a penalty shoot-out as the four minutes of additional time came and went, before substitute Daniel North glanced home from a corner to set up a tie with South Shields.

Tadcaster Albion: Young, Hardy, Hansen, Mycoe (Holmes), Milne, Papprill, Roper, Davidson (T. Gore), Reynolds, Pugh, Stewart. Subs not used: Ingham, Savory.

Tomorrow’s visitors to the i2i Stadium, Colwyn Bay, sit only three points above the Brewers. The Seagulls last weekend won 3-0 at home to Radcliffe Borough, while the last meeting between these sides ended in a 1-1 draw.

Midfielder Sam Akeroyd will not feature, having left the club in search of regular first-team football.

Division leaders Scarborough Athletic travel to 16th-placed Ramsbottom United, who have not won a game since mid-November. Last time out, they went down 1-0 at Colne.

With the Seadogs only ahead of South Shields on goals scored, and their title rivals at lowly Atherton Collieries, Boro will be hoping for maximum points to secure their place at the summit.

National League North high-fliers Harrogate Town were 5-0 winners at home to St Albans City in Tuesday night’s replay of the Buildbase FA Trophy second round after the 1-1 draw in Hertfordshire.

Tomorrow, second-placed Town travel to table-toppers Salford City in the hope of cutting their eight-point advantage.
