SELBY Town ended one unbeaten record in midweek and will be looking to do so again tomorrow.

The Robins inflicted Rossington Main’s first defeat of the Northern Counties East League division one season in dramatic fashion thanks to Charlie Clamp's 95th-minute penalty after a backs-to-the-wall effort.

Tomorrow, they host Yorkshire Amateur (3pm), who are currently second in the table to Knaresborough Town after five wins and one draw in their opening six games.

Selby sit seventh after Tuesday's home win.

Man-of-the-match Brad Freer whacked a great shot into the bottom corner to give them a sixth-minute lead after their first attack.

However, they were on the rack for much of the game thereafter as Rossington piled forward at every opportunity.

After 12 minutes, Selby keeper Gareth Dickinson gave away a penalty but made amends with his second spot-kick save of the season from Alex Head’s poor effort.

The visitors still surged forward and, after Ben Lock cleared off the line, they were finally rewarded on the half-hour mark as Jordan Buckham pounced on a through ball into the area and smashed home the equaliser.

Rossington, by far the best team Selby have faced so far this season, continued to press in the second half, but they hit both posts while Dickinson and a battling defensive effort added to their frustrations.

Home fans were praying for the final whistle, which was delayed due to treatment midway through the half to Selby’s Tom Hogg.

However, they were then sent into raptures.

Ryan Gothard cleared the ball upfield and Freer gave chase. His determination paid off as he was brought down in the area, with a red card following - and Clamp smashing home the spot-kick.

Early leaders Knaresborough maintained their 100 per cent record thanks to Tuesday's 2-1 win over fellow high-riders Shirebrook courtesy of early goals from Gregg Anderson and Blaine Hobson. Joe Naylor's late reply proved only consolation. Boro go to Sheffield side Swallownest tomorrow.
