MALT SHOVEL, who went unbeaten while securing the FastPack Ltd York Sunday Morning League Division One title by ten points, completed a double by winning the Senior Cup.

They defeated Bubwith Swans 3-2 in the final following a brace from midfielder Derry Robson.

The sides were goalless at the break after both sides had chances to take the lead. The Swans spurned the best effort of the half after their goal was disallowed for offside.

Bubwith, who defeated Thorpe to progress to the final, did go in front shortly after the interval as Jamie Sedman beat the Malt goalkeeper to a ball on the edge of the box, slotting into an empty net.

And the visitors' lead looked watertight for large parts of the second half until Robson's quickfire brace on 80 minutes changed the game.

The pressure told when Bubwith had a man sent off after 85 minutes. A Will Ramsey header put Malt Shovel 3-1 up before a Ryan Whitlam volley saw Swans pull one back but it was not enough.

In the Junior Cup final, Division Two champions Hambleton defeated York Medics 2-0 to claim another double.

The best defence in the league, which conceded just 20 goals in 16 games, proved key once more as Nathan Parker struck in each half to secure the victory.

His first effort was driven past the goalkeeper into the far corner before an easy finish from close range proved too much for their opponents.
