SELBY Town's Under-14s are now chasing a memorable 'quadruple' after winning the YMSV York Minor League title and the District Cup (The Deighton Shield).

The young Robins needed three points from their final two games to win the league and duly beat Huntington and Poppleton.

Goals fom James Birch, James Hymers, Spencer Smith, and Harry Jackson secured a 4-0 win at Huntington.

Goals from Jacob Braybrooke and Birch secured a 2-1 home win against Poppleton and goalkeeper Charlie Precious saved a penalty.

The Robins romped to a stunning 10-0 victory against Kirk Deighton in the final of the Deighton Shield last weekend at the Fairfax Stadium.

Birch stole the show with four goals supported by Smith, Callum Featherstone, Max Seaman, Braybrooke, Thomas Lalley and Harry Jackson.

Coaches Justin Harpham and Matt Smith said: "We put on a great performance for the crowd and district representatives and played some great football. We have been asked to play up a year next season so this shows what a strong team we have with the U14s at Selby Town. We still have two more cups to play for (the FA Cup and the League Cup) and we must keep focused on trying to win all of them."

Selby's search for a new first team manager, meanwhile, moved a step closer yesterday when the deadline passed for applications.

Former manager Nigel Emery was sacked at the end of the season.
