RICCALL United have been relegated from the York Minster Engineering League premier division.

They were beaten 4-1 at York RI on the final day of the season as rivals Copmanthorpe avoided the drop with a 3-3 draw at home to Huntington Rovers.

United had needed Copmanthorpe to lose to have any chance of survival but they took the lead against Huntington after just 12 seconds courtesy of Matty Bastock.

Chris Dyson levelled for third-placed Huntington and the sides remained all-square at the break.

Robin Bedford and Tom Paley put Copmanthorpe 3-1 ahead early in the second half but Dyson scored twice to complete a hat-trick and earn a draw for Rovers.

The point was enough to guarantee safety for Copmanthorpe but United are now relegated with Brooklyn FC.

They never looked likely to beat York RI whose goals came from Kieran Harris, Ben Jones, Liam Stilgoe and Darren Sellars. United's consolation goal was scored by Harry Brigham.

After a surprise midweek defeat against Tadcaster Magnets, champions Wigginton Grasshoppers returned to form with an 8-0 away win at Dringhouses.

Goals from Jamie Green and Gary Newton gave the Hoppers a 2-0 lead at the interval before Matthew Tiplady increased the advantage.

Luke Roberts added a fourth from the penalty spot before Tiplady netted twice in quick succession to complete a hat-trick. Substitute Jamie Willstrop added two late goals to round off a memorable campaign for Hoppers.

Regular scorers Josh Cryer and Tom Rushworth both bagged a brace to secure Easingwold Town's promotion from division two with a 4-1 home victory over Stamford Bridge.

Easingwold will now join champions Wilberfoss in division one next season after moving above Bishopthorpe United on goal difference.

Malt Shovel secured the division four title after goals from Luke Pearse and Brad Hall gave them a 2-0 win over Huntington FC.

Shovel won the title by a single point ahead of Wetherby Athletic who also won promotion.

Newly-crowned Reserve 'A' champions Huntington Rovers won a tense derby with Wigginton Grasshoppers.

Lee Bunce and Kieran Flanagan put Rovers two goals ahead only for John Cavanagh to net twice to bring Wigginton level at half-time.

Wigginton then took the lead through an own goal before both sides had efforts disallowed by the referee.

Pete Laidlaw equalised for Rovers before Bunce netted twice to seal a 5-3 win.

Liam Serginson and Marty Gargett struck to give title winners Pocklington Town a 2-1 win over second-placed F1 Racing in Reserve 'B'.

The result means that F1 Racing will miss out on promotion if Easingwold Town win their final game against Harrison Signs next weekend.

Dan Marshall scored four goals as Heworth Green Reserves secured their promotion from Reserve 'C' with a 4-1 victory over Malt Shovel. Heworth Green's first team had won the division three title in midweek.

Robert Friar also struck four times as Selby Olympia lost 6-5 at home to Rufforth United.

Danny Parker, Stev Yorke, Mikey Martin (2) and Callum Langhan (2) bagged for the away side.

There were also goals in abundance in the game between Civil Service and Wilberfoss where the latter emerged with three points after a 10 goal thriller.

Jason Hogg gave Service an early lead but, despite further goals from Dec Richardson (2) and Sam Hardcastle, they suffered a 6-4 reversal thanks to goals from Dan Tunnicliffe (2), Daniel Jacques, Dave Laverack, Ian Cappleman and Carl Womersley.

F1 Racing, meanwhile, progressed to the third round of the League Senior Cup after a 3-2 victory over Pocklington Town.

F1 led through an Alex Martin strike but the visitors levelled just before the interval. Chris Dempsey and Sam Martin fired F1 into a 3-1 lead and Pocklington goalkeeper Carl Silburn made a string of fine saves to keep his side in the contest.

A late Pock goal made for a dramatic finish but F1 saw out the match out to continue their cup run.

Oliver Newby, Simon Houlder (2) and Liam Booth were on target for Wilberfoss in a 4-1 defeat of Cawood in the Junior Cup, for whom Snell bagged a consolation.

South Milford also progressed with a 5-2 win at Strensall.
