HUNTINGTON Rovers Reserves clinched the York FA Saturday Junior Cup with a thrilling 4-3 triumph over Strensall.
It was Rovers who took the lead when Pete Laidlaw headed across the Strensall goal for Kieran Flanagan to slot home from eight yards.
And it was that man Flanagan again who doubled Rovers tally five minutes later with a carbon copy effort.
Strensall found themselves 3-0 down on 21 minutes as Ben Thompson latched onto a through ball to hammer into the roof of their net.
Strensall pulled one back on the half hour, though, when Joe Davison threaded a ball through for Chris Johnson to fire home.
Into the second half, Gareth Hirst curled a 25-yard free kick into the top corner of the Rovers net on 62 minutes to further reduce the deficit.
Luke Whitaker was then sent off for a foul in the 18-yard box, with Charlie Coupland converted the resulting penalty to level the scores at 3-3.
However, Strensall were only level for two minutes as Flanagan took a low free-kick which Nicke Rakocivil latched onto for the winning goal.
The Trophy, sponsored by Construction Marine Ltd, was presented by York FA President Roy Ellwood.
