YORK Nomads will play Hounds FC next month in the final of this season’s Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League Cup.

The Nomads are seeking to complete a Cup ‘treble’ after winning both the North Riding Sunday County Cup and the York FA Sunday Morning Senior Cup.

They progressed to their third final of the season courtesy of a 4-1 victory over division two side Selby Olympia.

Andy Simpson opened the scoring for Nomads before Liam Flanagan doubled the lead with a shot scored from a tight angle.

Selby pulled a goal back before the interval but Chris Bilton made it 3-1 and Flanagan scored his second with a great finish from outside the penalty area.

Hounds, meanwhile, booked their place in the final with a 5-0 demolition of Wigginton Grasshoppers.

Winners of the Barkston Ash FA Cup last weekend, Hounds were leading 2-0 at the interval and banged in another three after the break.

Alan Jackson and Christopher Jackson both bagged braces whilst Sam Cable also scored.

Bubwith White Swans travelled to NUR in division one and romped to a 10-0 victory.

In the midweek games, Thorpe United inflicted a 4-2 defeat on NUR to draw level on points with their opponents in the bottom three.

The game was level at 2-2 at half time but two further goals from Thorpe in the second half bagged the three points.

Jack Morris and Adam Blades both scored doubles for Thorpe and James O’Donnell bagged a brace for NUR.

Hounds travelled to Wigginton Grasshoppers in another midweek game and it was the Grasshoppers who celebrated a 2-1 victory.

Michael Clancy and Josh Luckhurst scored the important goals for Wigginton who are now looking to fight off competition from third placed York Nomads and fourth-placed Hounds for this season’s runners-up spot.
