TADCASTER Magnets grabbed a vital point from a 0-0 home draw with Church Fenton White Horse to drag themselves out of the York Minster Engineering League premier division relegation zone – and plunge rivals Copmanthorpe back into trouble.

Copmanthorpe themselves suffered a 4-2 loss at Old Malton St Mary's despite goals from Matt Jowsey and Jake Moyse. They now lie behind Magnets on goal difference with both sides having two games to play.

Meanwhile, Malton moved up to second position in the table – the highest they have been this season.

York RI continued their recent upturn in fortunes, recording a 3-2 win over high-flying Dringhouses. Craig Atkinson, Kieran Harris and Ben Jones all netted for Institute in their ninth win of the campaign.

Huntington Rovers lie third after edging an entertaining tussle with F1 Racing.

Chris Dyson gave Rovers an early lead before Alex Martin levelled with a fine finish following great work from Adam Tiffany.

Dyson then completed his hat-trick either side of half-time to give Rovers a 3-1 lead only to see Chris Dempsey fire a brace and restore parity. A late goal from Liam Flanagan assured a 4-3 success for the home side.

Danny Owers, Andrew Simpson and Tom Owen fired Sporting Knavesmire to a 3-0 triumph over Dunnington. The win leapfrogged Knavesmire over their rivals into fifth spot.

LNER Builders recorded a 7-1 win over St Clements in division four.

Huntington Rovers moved to within a point of the Reserve A title with a 6-1 thrashing of Old Malton St Mary's. Ash Hill (2), Lee Bunce (2), Peter Laidlaw and Ben Thompson inflicted the damage, while Iain Kerr replied for Malton.

Ryan Bruce, Danny Rodwell and Tom Heckingbottom (2) bagged for Riccall United in a 4-1 Reserve B encounter with Stamford Bridge. Dan Litherland responded.

An own goal plus efforts from Nathan Leach, Dan Collins and Tom Hogg gave Reserve C side Cliffe a 4-1 win at Rufforth United, for whom Tom Norton hit a consolation.

* Osbaldwick upset newly-crowned premier division champions Wigginton Grasshoppers after two strikes from Danny Penrose gave them a 2-0 success in round one of the League Cup competition.

Osso put in a brace battling performance to keep 'Hoppers at bay despite being reduced to ten men with half an hour of the game to play.

Goals from Glover, Raistrick, Harrison and Higgs gave Malt Shovel a 4-1 triumph at home to Bramham in the Junior Cup. Heworth Green recorded a 5-1 win at Stamford Bridge in the same competition.
