YORK City Ladies Reserves fought back to complete their league programme with a 2-1 victory at lowly Prudhoe Town Women.

Prudhoe had won only one game in the league this season but took a surprise lead after 18 minutes courtesy of striker Courtney Vacher.

But the Minsterbelles scored twice in quick succession before the break through Sophie Tinson and Laura Porritt to secure their tenth win of the league campaign.

Vacher lobbed goalkeeper Leigh Bamford from distance to open the scoring for Prudhoe but, with the interval approaching, the prolific Tinson broke away to equalise for York with her 21st goal of the season.

The Minsterbelles took the lead just a couple of minutes later as Hollie Smith released Porritt who beat on-rushing goalkeeper Lauren Cannell to register her eighth goal of the campaign.

To their credit, Prudhoe pushed forward in the second-half, but were met by a strong defence and a confident goalkeeper in Bamford.

The result means City Ladies look set to finish fourth in the table - unless Blyth Town Lions convincingly defeat champions Durham Cestria in their final game.
