TADCASTER Albion played out a second goalless draw in a month with North Wales side Colwyn Bay at Llanelian Road.

Brewers boss Billy Miller named an unchanged starting XI for the third successive match.

There were some new additions to the bench however, with i2i International Soccer Academy Athletes Ilyess Jeridi and Leon Pohls earning a spot in the squad for the first time.

The travelling Taddy fans were in fine voice but it was the home side who forced the issue early on with Danny Bartle and Scott Bakkor both going close.

Bay continued to look the more assertive as captain Sam Barnes glanced narrowly wide of the mark.

With Tom Corner and Josh Greening up front, Taddy are a threat to any team and Corner missed a glorious opportunity to ripple the back of the net.

Jordan Armstrong galloped down the right wing and delivered the perfect cross for the towering frontman, but Corner shouldered agonisingly over the crossbar from five yards.

If Corner had made a clean contact with his head he would have been celebrating his 14th goal of the campaign.

Taddy took to the game to their Welsh opponents after the break, and almost found a way through ten minutes in.

Josh Greening performed a sumptuous piece of skill to beat Danny Collins before feeding Conor Sellars.

Sellars side-footed first time on the volley and it almost squirmed underneath goalkeeper Kieran Wolland, who managed to trap the ball under his legs.

Colwyn Bay were gifted a clear sighting of goal four minutes later.

A ball over the top, chased down by Danny Bartle, caused the Brewers problems as goalkeeper Chandler Hallwood rushed off his line but missed the ball.

With the goal open and Josh Barrett charging back, Bartle blazed well over from an acute angle.

It was a game lacking in quality as both sides looked assured defensively without having a clinical edge in front of goal.

Taddy’s final chance of the afternoon came five minutes from time when Josh Greening was pulled back on the edge of the penalty area.

Set-piece specialist Sellars stood over the free-kick but could only curl into the hands of Wolland.

Both the Brewers and Seagulls will think they could have won it late on.

Jamie Rainford signed for Bay from Glossop North End a fortnight ago – and he couldn’t have asked for a better chance to open his account after coming off the bench.

He played a lovely one-two inside Taddy’s penalty area but the striker could only turn tamely into the path of Hallwood.

The last action of the match was a half-hearted penalty appeal from Taddy deep into injury time.

Substitute Carl Stewart felt he was pulled back by defender Matty Regan but referee Ben Atkinson was unconvinced as the clash drew to a close.

* PICKERING Town continued their Northern Counties East League premier division title charge with a 3-1 victory over Clipstone at Mill Lane.

Joe Danby, Nick Thompson and Lewis Taylor were on target – all after the break – to haul the Pikes within two points of leaders Cleethorpes having played one game more.

The top two meet this Saturday in North East Lincolnshire for a crunch clash.

In the same division, Harrogate Railway Athletic were beaten 3-2 at home to Barton Town Old Boys.

In division one, Selby Town lost 1-0 at Nostell Miners Welfare.

Elsewhere, Scarborough Athletic slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Lancaster City in Evo-Stik League first division north, while Harrogate Town were held to a scoreless draw at Altrincham in National North.
