BILLY Miller reckons Tadcaster Albion have 'come of age' in their first season in Evo-Stik Division North.

It has been a good week for the Brewers with back-to-back victories over Bamber Bridge, in the league, and Brighouse Town in the semi-final of the West Riding County Cup.

Manager Miller takes his side to Colwyn Bay tomorrow feeling that a couple more wins can guarantee the club's survival.

"With the teams at the bottom well adrift of us, one or two wins now will see us right," he said. "It’s almost like the penny has dropped and we’ve come of age in this league.

"We played Colwyn a couple of weeks ago, so we know exactly what they are about," he said. "We will look to continue on our current form, making sure we’re nice and compact out of possession so we can play to our strengths with the ball."

Miller had the luxury of being able to field an unchanged side for the victories against Bamber and Brighouse.

"I think it was important we didn’t change our team from Saturday and it was the first time in a while we’ve been able to field the same side," he said. “It’s a huge plus that the same squad should go to Colwyn Bay on Saturday."

Outlining the emphasis he places on fitness, Miller said: "We were the fitter team at Brighouse and we were fitter than Bamber as well. We always have a big blow-out at the start of our Wednesday session and hit them with 25 minutes of high intensity training.

"I’ve done that for the last five years and have always found it adds to a group of players who have that mentality already."

Albion romped to promotion from the Northern Counties East League premier division last season and, despite inconsistencies this season, the Tadcaster manager insists there is now a 'feel-good factor' at the i2i Stadium.

"What we’ve been able to do really well is manage expectations," he said. "People’s expectation this year was to get a feel for the league and to see what it’s all about. There are some very good football teams in this league and it’s a very good level to play in. We shouldn’t lose sight of that."

Second half strikes from Josh Barrett and Carl Stewart gave Albion a 2-1 victory over Brighouse in the West Riding County Cup and booked a final date against either Bradford Park Avenue or Farsley Celtic who play on Monday night.

Pressure is mounting on Scarborough Athletic manager Steve Kittrick ahead of his side's trip to Evo-Stik First Division North leaders Lancaster City.

Boro are currently outside the play-off places and supporters vented fury after the midweek defeat at neighbours Pickering Town in the North Riding County FA Senior Cup.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of that defeat, assistant-manager Chris Bolder said: "For some reason, this squad of players is extremely low in confidence at the minute.

"We understand the fans' frustrations totally. And there is not a player in the dressing room who is satisfied with their performance today or in the last couple of weeks.

On Kittrick, Bolder said: "He feels personally let-down by the players. Yes, he picks the teams and organises the tactics but, ultimately, the players have got to implement those tactics and show a little bit of passion."
