RONNIE Kelly hit a hat-trick as York under-11 schoolboys racked up a 4-1 home victory over Leeds B.

The Minstermites’ other goal was scored by Adam Clarkson.

Kelly put the hosts in front after just seven minutes and, with Fraser Clarke, Jamie Hudson, Liam Mainprize and Clarkson all dominating in midfield, the latter doubled York’s advantage by converting a corner.

When Kelly was fouled after neat work between Noah Morgan and Mainprize, he converted the resulting penalty before making it 4-0 with five minutes remaining, although Leeds still had time to claim a long-range consolation.

York U14 schoolboys were 2-1 winners at Sheffield thanks to goals from Ben Calam and Harvey Stephenson.

Luke Jones had earlier forced the first save for the visitors, but man-of-the-match Joseph Hodge was called into action swiftly at the other end of the pitch.

Another fine stop denied Calam from Stephenson’s free kick, but he wasn’t to be denied on nine minutes.

Jones’ inswinging free kick was headed back across goal by Ben Fawcett for Calam to fire in with a six-yard shot on the turn.

With York’s back four of Fawcett, Leo Jones, Sid McCoy and Olly Hanley defending resolutely, Sheffield found it hard to break down their opponents, but did manage to level on the quarter-hour mark.

Stephenson saw another on-target attempt repelled and Hodge was at full-stretch to keep his team on terms either side of Edward Hammond going close for the visitors.

A driving run down the right by Luke Jones saw his cross skim the crossbar, but Hodge was tipping over again moments later.

Sheffield went on to hit the bar with a penalty and York capitalised with a 51st-minute winner.

A Luke Jones free kick was blocked by the home wall, but fell to Joshua Byfield on the left.

He delivered the ball back to the edge of the Sheffield penalty area, where Stephenson’s dipping shot beat the hosts’ keeper.

Byfield had another effort well saved, while Hodge saved well following a scramble.

A last throw of the dice saw Sheffield send all 11 players forward for a throw-in, but it was cleared by McCoy. Luke Jones then rounded the home keeper, in the York half, only for the referee to blow full-time as he ran clear on goal.

York Schoolboys U13s shared the spoils in a 2-2 home draw with Huddersfield, having twice taken the lead courtesy of an own goal and Taylor Bell.

The Minstermites forged in front midway through the half after Lewis Humphreys broke down the right and crossed the ball for Ben Thornton, but a visiting centre back beat him to it and put through his own net.

Huddersfield levelled after the break, but were behind again when Humphreys attacked down the left this time and found Bell, who fired past an out-of-position keeper from the edge of the box.

It was all level again with 15 minutes to play, but Bell almost snatched victory when he rattled the crossbar.
